JV gets a lot of pub... and deservedly so... but I just thought I'd throw some love to another "eurobig" who's doing work in ORL.

Nikola Vucevic (2nd yr with the Magic).

6'10" 240lbs and VERY solid as a "traditional big" who protects the rim, rebounds and plays tough D.

Currently avging 10 & 9 + 1blk/gm on 48% FG in 29MPG.

He & Nicholson should be 2 bright spots for that team in the future.

I wanted Vucevic in the offseason. We should have tried to pick him up in a larger trade for Iggy.

DeMar DeRozan, Terrence Ross, Jose Calderon, Ed Davis for Andre Igudola and Vucevic.

The only thing I didn't like about the deal was that he could opt out after this season and we could lose him for nothing.

Hes a solid player but I dont think he has a high ceiling. I think his ceiling is 12+9 on a decent team. The good thing is he wont make too many mistakes and will make plays around the rim, but hes not going to be a star.

Nicholson I think has a much higher ceiling IMO. His touch and footwork is extremely impressive.

I also remember you talking about him regarding Philly sweetning the pot too much in the Bynum deal. I agree. Giving up Iggy was one thing, since they have Turner, but throwing in Vucevic, Harkless and that pick is looking bad now.

He's out of USC... he might have a Euro name, but I think he's well accustomed to the North American game. He was a bit more of an outside shooter when he was at USC, looks like he really expanded upon his game down low... Only if Bargs could do that...

This guy picked up 29 boards in the overtime loss against the miami heat this past couple of days. He's no Dwight Howard but he's got a bright future if he can keep this up.
