Marc Gasol is playing well, but its natural for a player to progress from his rookie year to sophomore year.

Landry's entry based soly on PER and Ariza is having the benefit of more minutes

I don't know if I agree with any of these choices, there are probably better candidates out there.

You can't really base the players improvement on how many minutes he is playing. Because in order for a player to improve by a lot his minutes have to rise from the average.

My vote would go to Ariza. He was critized when people siad he was only good cause he was playing with a talented Lakers team which featured Kobe, but know hes should that he can carry the load and be a leader down in Houston.

What about Josh Smith?

Stat - 2008 - 2009

PER - 17.2 - 24.1
eFG% - 0.508 - 0.522
Pts/36 - 16.0 - 17.6
Reb/36 - 7.4 - 9.6
Ast/36 - 2.5 - 4.2
Blk/36 - 1.7 - 2.8
Stl/36 - 1.4 - 2.0

Up across the board, and a big reason why the Hawks are doing so well in the East.
