Nuggets More Drama for Ujiri and the Nuggets

I wonder if he misses Toronto right about now.

Quote:
“I don’t want to leave,” Martin said this afternoon. “I love the guys, I love the organization. But I understand if that is going to be the case. They haven’t said anything all summer. Wait. They said something; they gave Al (Harrington) the money. I don’t have any problem with Al, but me and Al play the same position. I think I’ve helped around here. I don’t think I’ve been that big of a problem. I think I’ve helped win a few games here and there.”

Martin was playing high level basketball last season when a torn patella tendon forced him to miss the better part of the last two months of last season. And though he returned for the playoffs, Martin was only a shell of himself. He had surgery in the summer and continues to rehab – with a good outlook.

But without an extension, he’ll take his time returning to the team.

If he had an extension, “I’d be playing right now,” Martin said. “I’m not rushing, whatsoever. The day I come back is the day I come back. I’m in the last year of my deal, we all know it. Ain’t nobody in a hurry to give me one, so I’m not going to be in a hurry to come back. Think about it: Ain’t nobody in a hurry to give me a contract, so why would I be in a hurry to rush back and risk further injury. Makes all the sense in the world, right? Trust me, I’ve thought about it plenty.

the guy was going to be out for a majority of the year so they signed a replacement
dont see a problem with that and K Mart is injury prone

last i checked, when you sign a contract for six years, you show up ready to play for six years. nothing less than that.

+1 Players these days want an extension before the final year. Why exactly? Especially at that age! Whatever happened to playout your contract first. For him to basically say that unless he gets an extension he'll take his time getting back.....while he's still getting paid!! IMO he should get suspended WITHOUT Pay for a month for even saying that.

Players who dont plan on retiring, tend to play harder in that final year of their contract... So yeah make em all wait... play their heart out and then reward them..
