Default Three-Way Trade Being Explored

Hmmm ... interesting. Mo could be that PG the Cavs desperately need. It'll be interesting to see if anything happens with this.

Delonte West is rumored to be part of the deal as well, in a sign-and-trade, because the Cavaliers haven't been able to come to terms with him on a new deal.

If West isn't included in the deal, Oklahoma City could receive forward Joe Smith, who has an expiring contract.

This trade makes no sense. Cleveland gets a talented young point guard, OKC gets either an aging pf or a backup sg (who they had just traded less than a year ago), and Milwaukee gets a downgrade at the point guard position. Cleveland gets way too much for what they give up, and OKC and Milwaukee get hosed. What is the reasoning behind that?

Milwaukee is very high on Sessions as they should be and Ridnour is a good backup/fringe starter who plays team ball a lot better than Williams does.

Williams would be a great fit next to Lebron since hes more shooter than distributor, but theyd lose a lot on defence with him starting over Delonte, and Delonte was a comparable set shooter. Its not as much of an upgrade as people think but its still an upgrade on the offensive side of the ball at least.

And what the hell is OKC getting? Cant be West since they just got rid of him.

Default Official: 3 team trade, Mo Will to CLE

http://www.ohio.com/sports/cavs/26919019.html

Quote:
The Milwaukee Bucks traded point guard Mo Williams to the Cavs in exchange for the expiring contracts of guard Damon Jones and forward Joe Smith. As part of the deal, the Bucks will receive Jones and Oklahoma City point guard Luke Ridnour. Oklahoma City acquires Smith and Bucks forward Desmond Mason. Oklahoma City also will send swingman Adrian Griffin to the Bucks.
GREAT trade for CLE, as they still now have a solid trading piece in Delonte to trade for another decent player since theyre unlikely to re sign him with Mo Will and Gibson locked up. As I said in the other thread they lose D, but they gain a guy who can actually handle the ball and make plays unlike that tool Hughes. That and Mo makes big shots which will help Lebron space the floor.

I like Ridnour, but MIL didnt improve with this trade and their PG tandem, although theyre solid distributors, is weak overall especially defensively. Either would be great on a team with vets who play solid team D but theyll probably be exposed on this team that isnt likely to play a lot of D and has a very weak bench.

OKC seems to have wanted to get rid of Ridnour for a while now so they got their wish and got a couple of very solid vet bench guys back in return. But they probably have the worst PG tandem in the NBA now(Watson/Westbrook?), but I guess its all a part of the plan...

So it's official eh?

Good move for the Cavs. I think Mo is the missing piece to the championship-contender puzzle of Cleveland. Also half decent for Milwaukee. Joe Smith was a fan favorite for the Bucks, only problem they would have with bringing him back is his health.

OKC gets Smith.

CLE still has to get a PF before the season is over to really have a shot at the title. Ben Wallace is only gonna get worse this season if thats even possible so him starting is a joke. CLE should be looking into trading some expiring deals(sideshow/wally) and possibly delonte for a solid PF.I cant really think of who is out there though for that kind of a deal so it may be tough for them. They should have tried to get CV in the deal too.

I think Mo is that one missing puzzle for Cleveland. He's gonna help him a lot and he'll definitely help Lebron a little more this season. It'd be interesting to see how this team turns out.

I love the trade for OKC, they're pretty much trading Ridnour for 8.4 mil of expirings (subtracted Griffin's number from the Jones/Smith total)... that's pretty good value for a PG you have no use for.

Milwaukee gets 6 mil expiring and Ridnour for Williams... could be worse, but they probably could've got a player with more potential than that for Williams. I think they could've squeezed out a 1st rounder out of Cleveland.

Cleveland... nice to see them making a move, but like thriller said whether they can be a contender before Lebron leaves depends completley on what they get for Wally's expiring and Delonte now.

I also think it would be wise right now for Cleveland to not try to stock up 55 mil of capspace in 2010 like the Nets, because if given the choice, Lebron's going to Brookyln over Cleveland, especially if you haven't tried to win with him by then. I think their best oppurtunity is going to be trading Delonte and Wally's expiring for something this year, and then trading Ben Wallace's big contract next year for one more piece of the puzzle and going for it all right then.

Default Mo Williams a Cav

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3533552

So, Bucks traded Ford because Williams was supposed to be better and now they've traded him too? Who is going to run the point in Milwaukee, Ridnour? I just don't get this trade from the Bucks' perspective. And they've also given up Mason to OKC. Did they simply HAVE to dump salaries?

Cavs just became better, IMO.

Isn't this supposed to be in the NBA talk place and no this trade doesnt really make the cavs better because by aquiring mo they still dont have a true PG but another combo guard like west

So Mo Williams is the point guard to help save Lebron James in Cleveland? Sorry but I just am not sold on this. I mean of all the chances and options Cleveland has had to have had to get a point guard and the best they do is Mo Williams? Some how I just think Cavs could and should have done better.

See thriller's post from earlier Mike regarding what the Bucks were likely thinking.

THis doesn't make the Cavs better because Mo isn't still a pure PG he is a combo guard and a little upgrade on West

you never cease to amaze me gurkang. you crazy man... why would you need a pure point guard if you have james who handles the ball all the time? this is a huge upgrade for the cavs.

i don't really get why milwaukee did this trade, though... jones, ridnour and griffin...? they basically just got cap space in return for mo williams... is that a good deal at all?

Actually I think good ball-handling PG on the Cavs would help James focus on other aspects of the game such as scoring and defense. Its too obvious who will have the ball in his hands at the end of every game.

I don't think Milwaukee gets any better with this deal

I like this move if im a Cav's fan, even a little more pressure off LBJ and some decent scoring will open up the floor a bit for him, and really a bit is all he needs to begin with.
