Minnesota To Offer $70M Extension To Love

The Wolves are expected to offer Kevin Love a $70 million contract extension this offseason following a resolution to the NBA's CBA negotiations, according to a report from Charley Walters of the Pioneer Press.

Love will be eligible for an extension of five seasons if there is no change from the current rules applying to players coming off their rookie contract.

Kevin Durant signed a five-year, $85 million contract extension last summer when he became eligible for the first time.

He's not better than Aldridge..... it's too much. Is he better than Horford? Is he better than Noah? I think there is far too much hype about Love.... feels like an overpay situation because it's Minny, much like what Toronto endures.

Mehhh, he's certainly worth 4Mil/yr more then Bargnani.

Wow, your logic defies logic. Fire Colangelo and sign this guy!!! You measure him against one guy, but ignore the three I pointed out... that's precious.

So, is this Jeff admitting that Bargs' contract is a good one, or that Love is overpaid? Gotta be one or the other.

I've always said Bargnani's contract was pretty good. But Love is better then him so 14Mil is about right imo.

Teams fall in love with the idea of a player and this is exactly why we didn't trade Bosh last year..... it's an overpay at 14M for Love. Minny wins as much as we do....and yet Love is loved? Grass isn't so green over there.

Just my opinion maybe, but I'd take Noah, Horford and Aldridge before I take Love.

Let's have a poll?

He makes less then bosh, even at last years salary. The guy can shoot, score, rebound (#1 in the NBA), gives effort and is only 22yrs old.

I love Noah and would probably take him as well, Horford as well, but not Aldridge.

Aldridge was carrying a winning team with Roy out..... for all the guys that slam AB for that, it's suddenly baseless for Love?

I'll also suggest that 4/34M for Perkins suggest the market has become more conservative too.....

Love is averaging almost 16rpg, shoots 42% from 3, 21ppg.The stats are bloated a little because of the team he plays on. But AB isn't close to doing any of those things other then PPG but it takes him 4 more shots per to do it. Aldridge is having a great season for sure, but he's also nearly 4yrs older and i would take Love over him.

Of course you guys would take Noah and Horford, centers are hard to come by. Love is a PF who can give you second chance points, box-outs, and can hit the three. He can't lead a team like Lamarcus can, but pair Love with a superstar and he won't disappoint you. 47 straight double-doubles are proof he is consistent.

$70mil/5yrs is fair if they can get a flat-out superstar.
They won't.

Hmmm Love is like Moses Malone 2.0
Aldridge is like Bosh 2.0
Horford is like Horace Grant 2.0
Noah is like a Robert Parish 2.0

I think I'll pick the Malone 2.0

P.S. Too bad Bargs isn't Dirk 2.0

That is a terrible analysis based on a brutal comparison... lol

I don't see Love smashing backboards, I don't see Horford wearing goggles, Noah has longer hair than Parish ever did, and Aldridge is a PF while Bosh is a SF..... I just discredited your argument with my own foolish one.

I guess that's somewhat fair for Minnesota to pay...but its a bit much IMO

I'll be the first to admit, I haven't watched a whole lot TWolves games this season. However, on radio shows that praise his numbers also brought up the fact that in certain games where the Wolves are blown out, he gets re-inserted into the game in the 4th quarter to reach his double double or pad his stats. So the stats are a bit misleading.

And for the Aldridge haters, he's bulked up this year, looks wider, added a back to the basket game too. He def should have been on all-star team.

Stats aren't everything. I'd rather have impact on the game
