Default Mike Dantoni Resigns as NYK Head Coach

As per Woj/Spears Yahoo twitter.

Please bring in Sloan. It'll be a massive coaching test and it'd be awesome to watch. Captivating TV.

Shame on Melo. They were doing amazing without him (early last season, and for a small stretch this season).

Crazy!

I like D'Antoni, but I hope (just because I detest the Knicks and their monstrous payroll) that whomever replaces him is a huge failure, and the team doesn't make the playoffs.

Good, now a better chance of us getting Nash in the offseason

A source tells Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated that D'Antoni didn't step down and that it was a mutual decision.
He was "stepped down" = he is not a quitter.

For my tastes, he is one of the best offensive coaches in the league. I wonder what would happen if Anthony is not happy with Sloan or Jackson.

Mutual decision meaning either you resign and save face or get fired. Just wrote that in another thread that D'antoni would be the one to go first not Melo. Shame about that and for Lin.

isn't it funny how resigns and re-signs are so similar?

Did Melo ever say he was not happy with D'Antoni? If he hasn't, he doesn't seem like he would against those well respected coaches.

and thank god D'antoni is out, I think this is really the only way to see if Melo is the real issue at NY imo, he's not, last year he was arguably the best offensive player in the league...

You can't tell me that all just went away out of no where. and I don't think D'antoni system is going to win championships with Melo, or without him. Offense wins games, defense wins championships.
Sloan or Phil can make these guys better defensively, like how DC has done with the raps.

As I was saying - he didn't quit the team.

As for Lin - yeah, Linsanity just lost its most important component.

I'd say this would be good for Lin. He has shown he can be effective when there is a defensive mindset in place.
