Michael Redd Out for Season - Career could be over!

What a blow...

Redd Out For Season With ACL, MCL Tears

Michael Redd suffered tears to the anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament of his left knee during the game Sunday. He will miss the remainder of the season.

This is the same injury -- tears to both knee ligaments -- that Redd suffered approximately one year ago.

Redd is 30 years of age and the injury is considered career threatening.

“We are deeply disappointed for Michael who worked so hard to make it back from this injury,” said John Hammond in a statement to RealGM. “We know Michael will work tirelessly to get himself healthy again and we will support him fully in his efforts.

“Although Michael is out for the season, we still have over half the season to play. That gives all of our players, especially our younger guys, the opportunity to earn more playing time the rest of the season."

Atleast he's got a gold medal..Not bad for a second rounder.

Ex2k 01-11-2010 07:54 PM

And he has a 18 million dollar player option for next season.

Has anyone ever came back from ACL problems?

career wise

N64 01-11-2010 08:16 PM

ouch, same exact injury as last season, with this reoccuring knee injury, his career might be over earlier then expected.

I don't know about NBA but in soccer, yes many times

Gurk 01-11-2010 10:06 PM

Well atleast he is gonna rake in 18 mil. If that doesn't last him his whole life I have no fucking clue what will

Really unfortunate, he was one of the funnest shooters to watch in the NBA because of his sick release. His catch and shoot game was awesome.

Will Milkwakee retire his jersey?

Bill Haverchuck 01-11-2010 11:49 PM

And this is exactly why contending teams like Cleaveland would not make an offer for him, even though, in theory, his skill set might have benefited the Cavs.

word on the street is Cavs are looking for a PF who can stretch the floor. Jamison, Murphy topping the list

Would that move Varejao to the Center position?

perhaps, as back up, idk. because they would be trading Z's expiring and Hickson probably, but I read somewhere they might want to make a deal that Z is waived back or released then and I'm not an expert on the rules. and the writer suggested Wizards are sworn enemies off the Cavaliers or something lol, but also that a firesale is likely and that Jamison would love it, as Cavs is a contender and they would want the best for him as he is such a loyal guy or something. a lot of speculation I think, but it makes sense they want a PF who can shoot threes and rebound, might put them over the top who knows.

Yeah, the Jamison rumour was mentioned in an article attached to another thread. I was just saying that the Cavs, and other contending teams, were smart not to take a risk on Redd. In the past, Redd had been mentioned in trade rumours. A GM would have been crazy to take a risk on Redd.

That's why you sign those monster contracts, kids!

i hope not... he was an overrated chucker IMO.
he could score, but did little of anything else. his last 4 seasons (this one included) have been injury riddled messes.
Milwaukee has to pay this guy a lot of money for a few more years... his contract is horrible.
heres an example of a guy who's put up good scoring numbers on a shit team, and hasnt really accomplished anything in Milwaukee... he'll go away, and people wont even remember him after a few years. IMO, that doesnt warrant getting your jersey retired.

Windex 01-12-2010 10:00 AM

tough break for the guy, been injury prone for a number of years now
at least he signed that big contract couple years ago
