7 games with more than a tenth of his pay lost is reasonable then.

There are plenty of elbows thrown. This was not just an elbow. This was an extremely violent act. Look at the windup and follow-through in a non-play situation. Completely different from your typical elbowing. It's not remotely acceptable from your average player, let alone a repeat offender.

clearly harden was aiming his head towards world peace's elbow. that was absolutely villainous! metta could've injured his arm!

How do you measure the violence or viciousness of the elbow? There is always a degree of acceleration & follow-through. It's perception - It's Ron Artest.

If he hunted Harden down with intent it would be different, but elbow's in the heat of the game happen all the time.

Kevin Love can face-stomp poor fools on the ground - we all forget about that pretty quickly. Oh yeah, he said sorry afterwards. Why do I get the feeling that Artest feels worse about this then Love did planting the sole of his foot square into Scola's face?

I don't see how one elbow can be less violent than another elbow. All that should be compared is the amount of damage each could do, since in both instances there was intent (heat of the moment), and follow-through. Trevor got 1 day, Metta got 7 days; seems fair. Would a "typical" punch in the NBA warrant a drastically different suspension than one with a "wind-up", if both had intent and follow-through?

7 games is a lot. Seriously. What Bynum did to Barea last year was pretty bad. It could have hurt J.J a lot worse than it did. Bynum got 6 games. People are upset because it's Ron-ron "my mind is gone-gone" Artest.

Thanks for the kind words.

A punch is a violent act. I dont like penalizing on results. Anyhow, no worries, is what it is, dude paid dearl for it.

I will say this though, I think it's funny that some peopl ehere think an elbow thrown on a "clearout" after a rebound is just a standard play, those guys are looking to decapitae anyone in there space. Perspective is funny.
