Default Melo to Re-Sign with Knicks on Max Contract

Just a matter of hours until Carmelo Anthony informs the Knicks of his return on a five-year deal, as @FisolaNYDN reported this week.
The contract is worth 129 million. This off season couldn't have worked out any better for the Raptors, as the Knicks will suck again next year and that contract is going to hurt their flexibility as the years progress, despite them having cap room next off season.

Who knows, but if we stay healthy we should be the favorites.

Melo (like Kobe) has given up all right to complain about winning.

Take your money and run.

I wouldn't bet against Phil Jackson and Melo getting that team back to the playoffs. I wouldn't necessarily bet on them either.

We still haven't seen what Miami is doing (will they retain Wade and pick up some other guys now - maybe Boozer will be available cheap?), and Chicago kind of scares me now with Gasol. Atlanta should be much better when Horford comes back but their depth is meh.

Otherwise, the East definitely did not get stronger at, its top team just shifted from Miami to Cleveland. It will be very interesting to see if Love does end up in Cleveland or not. It's fun to watch Miami and NYK tie up all of their cap space!

I don't think a guy with five rings is ever gonna complain about winning.

I would not put Miami in tier 3 - they have Wade, Bosh, Spoelstra, etc... who have played together for the past 4 years. Losing LBJ will hurt them for sure but they are easily a tier 1 or tier 2 team. The Bulls haven't played at full strength for the last 2 years, there could be some trouble initially but they'll be strong. The CAVS will get 50+ wins but the team is quite inexperienced from a Playoff perspective.

Forget rankings. The East is up in the air. Nothing is given; everything is earned. Halloween can't come soon enough. (for me to play a Miami Heat fan)

The bulls have based their future on two very injury prone players and Noah and will not have Deng, Boozer or Hinrich. Not sure that we can say they are better.

Good for Melo for taking the money but welcome to no pick salary cap hell all over again.
