Exclamation McHale explains how the NBA worked 20 years ago

Quote:
Joakim Noah didn't appreciate LeBron James' dancing last week and it is unlikely last year's MVP would get away with doing that 20 years ago.

"If a guy was doing the Riverdance like that, coach would come over and say, 'Who's got the fewest amount of fouls of my big fellas?' " said ex-Celtic and TNT analyst Kevin McHale. "If you raised your hand, he would say, 'We will let him drive and then we will throw him on the ground.'

"When he is laying there we would say, 'Do you feel like dancing now?'

"And that pretty much solved the dancing problem."

Ah, the good ol' days. I wish today's NBA and the Raptors in particular that more of that mentality in them.

Imagine doing that to Lebron. I'd pay to see that live.

As for McHale's senitments, yeah great.... All of us can appreciate that approach and all of us would love to see that kind of attitude back in the game. However we all know that those days are gone.

If that happens, especially to 'Bron, the NBA will suspend that player

After the malice at the palace, everything changed... a new era.

and era of full out pussies, technical fouls and when you put a hand to defend your man he runs into your hand and jumps, screams like a bitch and he gets the foul.

Besides if Lebron did some dancing to the Erving/Malone sixers, this would happen.

*Fast forward to the 7:00 mark*

Dude, thanks for posting this video. I never saw that footage. You may think we're in an era of pussies right now, but Dr. J and Malone were acting like pussies, too. I mean, it's not tough to punch a guy while your teamate headlocks him. I don't respect that shit. It's just cheap.

I think slowly started to change, theories on how the game should be run and if disciplines should be tougher, the whole thing about technicals, then the riot happened and in an instance the NBA changed.

How often do we see Bosh get a T when he is just releasing a normal human reaction of frustration or anything else?

Same with all other players in the NBA.

It was a bit lenient before the malice, but after that, goddamn it's like elementary school basketball refs on your neck all over again.
