Marion making a difference for Mavs

Quote:
Everyone who thinks that Marion doesn't (or didn't) make a difference on the court needs to read this. An article that I pasted from another site that outlines why he's FAR more valuable than most people realize.

"The thing that I've loved about him since he's got here is he's just been all about trying to fit in and make it work," coach Rick Carlisle said.

"The priority was not trying to win the summer," owner Mark Cuban said, referring to perception of offseason moves. "The priority was trying to become a better team."

That meant making major strides defensively, which is why Marion made sense for the Mavericks. He's also an offensive upgrade over Antoine Wright, who is the man Marion replaced in the starting lineup and the only rotation player the Mavs gave up in the deal to get him
.

The Mavericks ranked 17th in defensive efficiency (points per possession) last season. They've skyrocketed to seventh this season.

I liked Marion I was one of the dudes that wanted him over Turk cause he brought what Bargs lacked. Andrea has been manning up recently though

He gave us a good run in the end so we can go lower in the lottery instead of busting so we could have landed Tyreke.

I liked Marion too, His defence has been sorely missed. Hedo looks 40 sometimes on the defensive end. Our team needed Marion more than Turk

I always wanted Marion back over Turkoglu. Marion is a better defender and rebounder, two areas we needed help in when he left and still do. He is also a very smart player who, on offense, doesn't need his own plays; he just goes with the flow of the game and uses his smarts and athleticism to make things happen.

As a huge Mavericks fan, I've loved him for them this year.

Dallas has needed Marion for years already, it's just a shame they couldn't get him 3-4 years ago, they might've had a couple of rings by now...

This is true..... dunno how much he would've helped them with GS (who were just on FIRE in that series) but I think that they could have beat MIA and Wade/Shaq. Marion's D would have helped in THAT series big time.

who cares, we got rid of a dude that had ZERO desire to be here, and guess what, got the guy his replaced, and Hedo for him.

Who gives a shit.

I like what Marion has been doing for the Mavs. He certainly fits in there more than the Raptors, but I have to admit that Marion was really starting a chemistry with the team at the closing games of the season.
