Default Marc Cuban's blog + Dwight movie

I don't know how to insert videos here, so click the link to youtube. It's epic:

The Mavs showed it to Dwight during the meeting. So corny.

Cuban's blog with his thoughts on Mavs thinking the last few years:

"A quick story. The week I bought the Mavs I was asked by Nellie if I wanted to bag the season in order to get the best draft pick that we could. My response was “No. At some point this franchise has to learn how to win and develop a culture of winning. You don’t create that culture by tanking the season. I don’t know how many games we can win, but we are going to try to win every one of them.” Thank goodness we didn’t tank the season It wasn’t a very good draft. And that turn around for the rest of the season helped define who we were and are to this day."

Damn straight.

He ended up over paying for Calderon and Ellis. Guess it didn't go over well.

3/25 for Ellis

Monta Ellis officially signs contract with Dallas Mavericks; Brandan Wright agrees to deal - ESPN Dallas

The blog was pretty interesting.

Finally I read that trade discussions between Charlotte and I forget who for Tyson Chandler had broken down. I made the call to the Bobcats in hope of getting Tyson.
Come on Mark - you know the name of the team.

His defense of the Jose signing is kind of interesting too.

Is he flawed.....absolutely. But at 8mil that's a team friendly deal. I used to want him here, right now i'm glad he's in Dallas. He's making less then 1mil more than Jose Calderon.
WTF was Cuban thinking on that JC deal, especially the term at his age?

Pass first pg with a volume shooter? Offensively they'll be fine. It's their defence that'll be concerning this year. Carlisle is a great coach though, it will be interesting to see if Ellis can execute or go free range - which will get him on the bench. Might be what Ellis needs if he's not too entrenched in bad habits by now. Shouldn't be too bad though with Marion/dirk/Daly behind them.

Ellis/JC are an awful match, for sure. Should be interesting to watch.

He seems far more humble in his blog reflections than he did in his statements the end of the lockout season when he was discussing some of his motivations for moves. I remember seeing interviews where he was blathering on about how he as staying ahead of the CBA by letting Chandler go. That was one of his more puzzling decisions, for me, since he was an asset that could be traded later, even if he seemed a bit overpaid when the ink was fresh on the contract. But I guess it's partly explained by Cuban being so surprised that Howard opted in for the final year of his last contract. I guess "landing Howard" was his idea of "staying ahead of the CBA".
