Knicks Marbury situation

I am reading rumors that Marbury is negotiating a buyout with NY. He is in final year of his contract, NY owns him about 21 mil $; I do not understand why NY doesn't keep him and trade him later as expiring contract? Why is better for NY a buyout?

What could they possibly get for him?

I also don't think they want to add salary which is all they would probably get in return - a similar sort of malcontent with more years left.

If they traded him to a team that wanted an expiring contract, then they would have to take contract back, and the only contract they want is Lebron's, or some other FA - so like ACIE says - they don't want any added salary.

So you are trying to say they want to get rid of him and prepare in the same time for the next year FA race to sign somebody really good with a lot of $$$? Or they just want to cut the salary to be under cap?

I'd say they are looking towards the FA crop for the next two years. And they are better without Marbury.

I'd agree with that. They were playing way better without Marbury than with him. But if they do this I don't like the idea of Robinson starting

Robinson would instantly become the worst pg starter in the NBA and one of the worst of the last decade.

It is reported on the RealGM that Marbury might go to Boston,Miami,Clippers, or Spurs.

I laughed so hard when I heard that
