Question Lowest Cap team/Lowest payroll team to Win NBA Championship

I was hopeing someone already knew something about this because I'm in a lazy mood today and don't feel like researching... ("Who should start at the 5" forums have given me a headache)

Anyhow

Anyone know off the top of there head which team in the NBA has won the Championship under the CAP (and if not, lowest above the cap) to date.

Side question: Which team has won the Championship with the lowest payroll.

I've just been wondering because reading the forums last few days have dealt with alot of people on here not to firmiliar with cap, cap rules and how it works and thinking these days teams should spend the money and basically "buy a championship"

Lets not go to far back... how about 1999 going forward (cap vs non cap)

spurs - they're a small market team that stays away from the l.tax.

2 of the big 3? It's not like that team had been together awhile, they just bought it for a couple years and went over the luxery with the rest of the buys, not a bad move if you ask me altho purist always want to "build from within the organization" kind of like Portland is doing, but there is no guarantee Portland will ever win a thing, and i would bet they wouldnt because the odds are against any team winning a championship in any decade.

When your whole plan is to go way over the cap on a trading and signing players during the season plan, i would consider that buying a championship, knowing it's not going to be longterm with the age of all the players invovled. McHale showed his true colors btw, green and white :P

if another team will do the trade it's just a good deal. that's a hell of a lot different than going out in the offseason and spending millions to acquire the top players like the jays did when they bought 2 straight world series'.

the celtics made two good trades and gave up a lot to make them happen. they then went out and bought 3 role players.

i just don't see that as buying a championship. that's just being a good gm.

and yes, mchale certainly did show his true colours. that helped a lot.

So if we offered our whole team for someone..Then sign people for the minimum to fill out the rest of the spots..

Baseball is a bit different late season with the crazy salary dumps and no cap, but i get your point, the jays did what a smart GM would do in that situation aswell one could argue, and most of the lineup was in place and they added like Ricky Henderson etc but they were great scouting and drafting team. They went many years being a really good team before they won it all. I just consider most "quick fix" moves bringing in alot of good players and spending over the tax as buying one, but i guess it's all semantics.
