Rockets Looks like Knicks will pass on Lin and going with Felton in sign-and-trade

https://twitter.com/SpearsNBAYahoo/s...13803268038658

how the rockets got it done:

Rockets found loophole that would cost them $8 million on third year of Lin offer sheet and Knicks $15 million, source tells Y! Sports.

Guaranteed Howard isn't now jumping for joy to go to Houston to play with Lin.... I bet it just solidfies his disinterest.

They're for once doing the smart thing. No way is Lin worth that contract.

According to Larry Coon (CBA guru), if Lin + Asik don't get matched, they likely will have to turn to plan "c". Apparently plan C is a three-way trade with Lakers.

His 3rd year would be hugely expensive for the Knicks, especially given the $15 million cap hit and then the luxury tax implications that follow. New York will almost certainly be in the tax the next 3 years unless they find a way to shed Stoudemire. Having that $15 mill cap hit while paying the reapeter tax is ...

People should check out Coon's FAQ page and see how insane the repeater tax is in a couple of years. Just nuts.

But, Jeff, the contract won't be as bad for Houston. It's just a 8 millish cap hit. It's not as burdensome for them. By the third year, he could be worth that, too.

Lol. F the Knicks? It's not like they lost a star bro. Lin isn't that good, so they aren't too worried about it. The only thing they are worried about is losing out on all the potential income Lin brings in.

Does not suck for the Knicks roster. Lin simply isn't that good to lose sleep over. Sucks that they lost out on business income though.

Lol well Lin is better than no PG.....I don't really know any other PG that can go there at this point if Lin didn't go. Rockets had no options after him...

Felton?

If the Knicks don't match Lin, it's also because Lin doesn't want to play in New York.

Let me clarify. F the Knicks for thinking they can make a superteam and win because of their geography and marketing. F the Knicks for always having players wanting to go play there. F the Knicks for always buying their way into competitiveness and talent.

Amazing because of that loophole. It's just fascinating lol.

Lin's gonna be a Rocket. Felton would have a hissy-fit if he was the Knicks 3rd stringer.

not official yet

A source close to the process told ESPN.com's Marc Stein the Knicks officially received the offer sheet Saturday night, meaning they have until 11:59 p.m. ET Tuesday to match it or let Lin go to the Rockets.

NY won't match. Their eyes are looking forward to CP3 next year. Kidd and Felton will do fine for the time being.
