Then what happens? The owners make their ridiculous offer (47%, flex cap, probably salary rollbacks)

Damn I'm good.

Stern's not messing around here. Holy crap.
Wow!!! what a brilliant move!! Now that the rank and file are feeling the pinch, it's time to threaten to reel in the superstars. The implications of Stern's latest move will either push the stars being paid on the previous system to fall in line or risk losing all that they are getting now. LMAO, this is what it means to have complete negotiating power with all the leverage!!

All I hear is that the NHL system is a mess as well. And in a year they could have the same issue with revenue sharing percentage.

The NBA is in serious discussions with the NBPA about scheduling a meeting on Tuesday, a day before the deadline set by the league for their latest offer to be accepted.

After Wednesday, the league states that it will reduce its offer to the players to 47% of BRI, with salary rollbacks and numerous new restraints on player contracts and team spending.

No meeting has yet been finalized by the two sides.

Meanwhile, Steve Blake is actively working the phones to encourage union members to push their team representatives to ask the NBPA's executive committee for a full player vote on the league's take-it-or-leave-it proposal. Even though Blake is not advocating a yes vote, there is a swell of support from players who at least want the chance to vote.

Adrian Wojnarowski tweets that in conversations with players and agents on Monday, "there's still much stronger support for rejecting league offer."

Sam Amick reports that Kevin Martin says the players should accept the league's offer.

The union apparently offered a 50% BRI + 1% for retired players. So how is the leagues offer of up to 51% so awful and unforgivable? This is ridiculous!
lol dont tell me how this offer is ridiculous. As it stands in my view, everyone in the NBA makes too much money and if anything, they should be donating money to the less fortunate

It's hardly a mess. The hockey-related revenue has increased by almost a billion dollars since the last CBA. As long as the owners are not going to ask them to give back even more than 2005 and pretend that a system that they created is not working, when it clearly is, everything will be fine.
