Jeff, Hockey players are characterized by their extremely airtight interviews, they are trained when they are drafted, literally. Its part of the culture, and its not always good, as fans we look forward to hearing guys like Roenick or Miller talk because the interviews become so boring. Hell its almost become a very subtle joke.

Thats why its used as a comparison dude, thats all. Just kinda like laying down a baseline to measure from.

Oh, and for the guy over there putting White hoods on our heads, there are quite a few BLACK GUYS in the NHL now, they all give NHL interviews. They don't claim hall of fame in public, or talk about how much they are worth. Its just character really.

Lebron lacks it.

Their interviews are unbelievable boring, rehearsed and cliche. This is why they're the most boring athletes in sports. They have a few characters that deviate here and there (ie: Bryzgalov), but overall....Zzzzzzzzz.

I'm all for the NBA keeping team caps and removing individual caps. Helps remove super teams because you can't afford Lebron, Wade and Bosh if Lebron is taking up 60% of your cap. Lebron should make much more than Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Aldridge, etc.

His point is entirely valid.
valid or not, it's a matter of tact. people aren't interesting in professional athletes thinking or saying what their worth it, simply because it'll always come off selfish. it's not a lebron issue, it's an athlete issue. you'll hear the same comments whenever a player holds out or makes contract demands.

How can you miss such an obvious point, do you people eve read the threads, or do you just wander into a room, like a little child (easy walter), and start yapping away?

Nobody denies the guys worth, he's a one man marketing sensation, the thread is about knowing when to just shut up and have a little bit of character. On a stage like that, with that kind of question, you should be, as the top guy in the league, speaking as a leader for the whole league.

Not taking an opportunity to show you insecurity and pound your own chest when everyone already knows youre the top dog.

Their is a wide spectrum of individuals in pro hockey, and a wide spectrum of individuals in pro basketball. I call it like I see it. The cultures are definitely different.

As far as character goes - on and off the court, LBJ is about as good as it gets.

The irony is remarkable.

I understand your point, and entirely disagree (please note because someone doesn't agree with your point, doesn't mean they don't read it). Why can't a player comment on something like this? He's not saying "I don't get paid what I should". There's no hint of complaining. No chest pounding. I'd rather have guys say what they think and not just throw cliches out every damn interview. I agree there are times that athletes go too far, but don't think this is one of those times.

He's making an observation. And I'm fine with that. You're not. Get over yourself.

Couldn't agree more

I highly doubt the best player in the NBA gives two shits what you think of him.

The guy knows hes the best in the game and you hate on em for knowing it, and knowing hes under payed when looking at other leagues.

heh.

I'm just saying... most team cultures, just prefer players shut the fuck up when the mic is on.

It isn't new.

And it for a reason.
