![]() wow dint think lebron would do something like this, its very noble of him:respect:
but why number 6? he should be number 25 or 22 then it would be cool cause Jordan #23 Kobe #24 Lebron #25 or Lebron #22 Jordan #23 Kobe #24...if you ask me thats sounds cool.. |

Jordan is a great player, a marketing machine but he'll never have that Russell selflessness. |

![]() It's a double edge sword to me..... I think wearing a guys jersey just because you respect him that much is almost better than not wearing it out of respect.
Basically it's plastering on your jersey the fact that you idolize someone. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. People should take it that way. I saw someone (it was either Kirk Muller or Wendall Clark) talking about whether he feels jersey numbers should be retired and he said that he is always proud when ANYONE chooses the number because of him. I think I would feel that way, no man is an island. The big issue is, someone will beat Jordan, someone will be almost as good etc. etc....When and where do you draw the line on number retirements? I would call MJ up and say "hey I want to wear your number? That ok with you?"... If he said no, I wouldn't wear it because he seems like the kind of asshole who wouldn't want anyone to wear it ever again. |

I hear ya. However I say you retire numbers and be selective which ones you retire. I know Boston is running out of numbers but hey they have been awesome for a long time. Don't do this Maple Leafs honouring BS |

![]() I don't really care either way. If James doesn't want to wear it then so be it, nice gesture and all but a campaign to stop people wearing it is a little too much. For the league to retire the number doesn't make sense because where does it end? What about Wilt and Bill? Magic and Bird? No retiring numbers but if players really want to tribute Jordan by not wearing it then so be it I just don't think they shouldn't feel any pressure to do it. James isn't the law or an authority and as such if he wants to go off and hold Jordan's hand then fine with me, I just wish he'd keep it to himself.
