Larry Brown Steps Down as Head Coach of Charlotte Bobcats

Quote:
Charlotte Bobcats Chairman and CEO Michael Jordan announced today that Larry Brown is stepping down as head coach of the team, effective immediately.

"I met with Coach Brown two weeks ago about the team’s performance and what we could do to improve it. We met again this morning after practice. The team has clearly not lived up to either of our expectations and we both agreed that a change was necessary," Jordan said.

"This was a difficult decision for both of us, but one that needed to be made. I want to thank Larry for everything he has done for our team. He has played a key role in this organization’s development, including coaching us to our first playoff appearance last season. Larry will continue to be a valuable advisor to me regarding the team. The search for a successor will begin immediately."

Brown was named the third head coach in team history on April 29, 2008, and compiled a record of 88-104 (.458) in two-plus seasons with the Bobcats.

Well, the easiest thing to do is fire the coach, but he's been there what, 3yrs? It isn't working for whatever reason and the coach usually doesn't last if success isn't happening.

Exactly.

On a positive note... IF Triano gets canned at the end of the season I know who I want as his replacement now.

Charlotte is the only team in the league I literally cant watch and sit through their entire game. I tried watching yesterday between the DAL ORL game and I couldnt even stand watching them. Theyre basically what we were with KO as our coach but with a little bit more talent. The pace they play at is disgusting.

To me, SA, Char, Orlando, Minnesota, Philadelphia, Detroit are all tough to watch depending on who they're playing, and even then.

SA is one of the most entertaining teams to watch right now. They have always have. If you think only about offense, the Spurs are a team to watch.

Agreed. The Spurs were boring about 5 years ago or so.... but they've been exciting for a while now (IMO).

spurs were always great to watch, the execution of their offense and the chemistry between all the players is so close knit, i envy san antonio fans. Larry Brown is an awesome coach, gotta give him a huge hand on making the indiana pacers become a badass team, and keeping the same "nobody gets a easy lay-up on us" mentality in charlotte.

I am in complete agreement wtih TO, if triano gets canned, BC should be killing people for brown

Yep. And let's not forget he was also the guy who got the Clips to playoffs in the 80s (I think!), took the Sixers to finals with A.I. and then won a title with the Pistons.... AND he won an NCAA title as well!

it's sad ! because he is one of the most value coach in the league right now.

but i think he will retire. no more team for larry i suppose.

but in the matter of charlotte, i think MJ maked in the past some mistake and he will regret it. but now he has a god roster and can make change when the new coach will come and say what he want.

so wait, and maybe we will compete with a new charlotte team next time.
