most teams that have a chance of getting the 1st pick to draft davis are terrible and most of them need a coach.

Larry brown is a coach and hes made it clear he want back in.

He wants to appeal to the shitty team and their fan base.

OK, he's crazy on his first claim.
his 2nd claim tho, he isn't the only person going crazy over Anthony Davis. scouts have said he's got top 20 ALL TIME potential! that's pretty insane.

Especially considering that 6 months ago Drummond was considered the likely #1 pick.

They might believe that but even the greats haven't made there team improve any more than 32 or 33 games(they mentioned it on ESPN first take this morning). If he lands on the bobcats they might win like 8 more games LOL

Hes comparing him to oscar, wilt, and russell... holy shit. I didn't know anthony davis was that good, it makes me hope we get the #1 pick to send Bargnani packing.

That's a lot of pressure to live up to, if he doesn't he's going to be considered one of the biggest bust of all time.

Why not Davis if we get the first pick? Wasn't Bargs compared to dirk back in 06? If Davis becomes a bust, then that's two in less than a decade

The top 20 all-time stuff is just crazy.... DUNCAN was a sure-fire slamdunk pick coming out of college and you could see it because he had a complete game on both ends and DOMINATED people game in and game out.

Davis is a defensive beast but he doesn't have an NBA-ready body and is still pretty raw on offense based on what I've seen/heard.

This. He won't have the same physical advantages.... heck, even Javale McGee is a similar athletic freak and defensively he's not overwhelming night in and night out..... yes, I know he's got a meatball for a brain....

He's not that raw. He's just got a lot of refinement that he can bring to a skillset that is already very evident.

Needing refinement is what may make him great in the end. He's not good enough to have the star ego, and the need to get his shots, but he's good enough to make everybody around him better. Could be a deadly combo with character and leadership attributes, especially after refinement.

I watched damn near every Kentucky basketball game this season, and I will admit i've drank the top 20 all time kool-aid.. in the championship.. yes he did get shut down, but let's not forget that Whitney had also shut down Sullinger the game before, he's a legit 7 foot shot blocker

Things to remember with Davis: he was a guard up until he grew 7 inches in a year. Terrific handles for a big man, great defender: help and man to man, great rebounder, offensively he is very versatile, his athleticism and agility allow him to create his own scoring opportunities, but at the same time he has a solid spot up game, and can score back to the basket with both games

He hasn't had an opportunity to bulk up with his frame that'll come this off-season and next, but he is definitely something special, if we win the lottery then he could very well turn our franchise around, it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

When I see him I see Camby.... and that's not a slam on Davis. Camby was/is a very solid player and a defensive backstop for YEARS.

Torap is right on the money here. Boom. It also took a long time for Camby to really fill out too....

He's quicker then Camby, but I would agree that a amped up new-age Camby is a possibility, which like you said is still pretty good.

That being said, middle of the pack center is probably a worst case scenario for him.
