Lamarcus Aldridge wants out of Portland

Quote:

LaMarcus Aldridge has wanted out of Portland since the last week of the Trail Blazers' season and did not resign sponsorship deals in Portland this past year, including agreements with Cadillac, Chevy, and Providence Hospital while asking to get out of a lease on his Pearl District condo.Aldridge tried to put a clause into his lease that he will not have to pay penalties if he was traded.“This is why I hate being in Portland,’’ Aldridge said during the last week of the season. “You can’t do anything.’’According to the report, Aldridge would not only welcome a trade from the Blazers, but he hopes for one, believing the city is too boring and small.Neil Olshey said he sympathized with the constant change Aldridge has gone through with the Blazers, but the GM was adamant he would not be shopping the All-Star forward.“Well, I’ll tell you this: I’m not going to be making any phone calls to move him,’’ Olshey said. “But if the phone rings and it makes the team better ...’’

Aldridge and Val would be a nice 4 and 5 combo ... make it happen Raptors

Damn straight, in a heartbeat! Imagine our frontline.... sick! Slide in Ross and Landry at SG and we don't lose a thing. I'm sure we'd have to heavily sweeten that offer though, DeRozan's supposed upside probably isn't too tantalizing to Portland's ownership as they're likely not Raptor fans despite Toby's remarkable and admirable dedication to RF!

I second third and fourth that

Windex 06-27-2013 10:52 AM

makes too much sense for it not to happen but we need to add another player to make the money work.

What about Derozan and Millsap to Portland with Lowry going to Utah?

That's an interesting idea.

IF (and I don't know that i take this report seriously yet) they really have a problem with Aldridge's attitude, then someone like Millsap (near all star) + another very good starter or high picks would make sense.

However, does Portland value DeMar specifically? He's an ok player but he's the 6th man in Portland. In their situation it would be extravagant to spend all their cap space on a 10 mil / year 6th man when they don't even have a starting center.

If it was Millsap+a high lotto pick or different type of asset that they need more...

I think DeRozan has value regardless, but I'd hope his perceived value is higher than his actual value. As for Millsap, didn't he sign in Portland before Utah matched? I'm sure that would add to Portland's interest level. As well, Derozan is a low risk trade option for them as his health has never been a question, he's young and seems to at least have a decent floor versus not having as high a ceiling as once imagined.

I don't think Demar is much better than Wesley Matthews. In potential, sure, but in contributing to a winning team right now, it's close. Wes is a better defender, more efficient and a much better outside shooter.

agreed, but adding a third wing in DD wouldn't be a bad addition for them. At least Batum and Matthews can both stretch the floor for him.

Wow. I'm a big fan of LaMarcus' game, but he did not handle this well. You should never insult the city you're in like that, it's only going to come back and bite him.

And I 5th and 6th Aldridge coming here. Him and Val would be incredible together.

TORaptor4Ever 06-27-2013 04:15 PM

The guy is talented without a doubt but something about him rubs me the wrong way. Always has. POR has some serious talent there alongside him and he may come to regret his decision if he leaves for what he THINKS are "greener pastures".

That being said, yes, a tandem of him and JV would be pretty damn sick.

0nekhmer 06-27-2013 04:33 PM

i'd move one of demar/rudy and kyle for him.. then trade landry for hinrich. hah

LaMarcus Aldridge hopes the Portland Trail Blazers can improve their roster before the start of the 13-14 NBA season. If that does not happen, Aldridge would prefer a trade.

Sources say Aldridge would prefer a trade to the Chicago Bulls.

The Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Clippers would be two other teams high on Aldridge's list.

"LaMarcus loves Portland," said the source. "He spent seven years there and grew as a man. Him going back is a possibility and he knows that. He's a professional, it wouldn't be an issue."
