Lakers will target Anthony and James in 2014 FA
Report: Lakers targeting James, Anthony in Summer 2014
How LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony Joining 2014 Lakers Would Impact Legacies | Bleacher Report

I would think every team in the league will target them :cookie:

LOG 07-18-2013 10:53 PM

^ yes, but there were rumors that lakers will go all out for James, it seems like they will try to include Melo in the equation too. that would be deadly imo, Melo James>>>Wade James. Not saying that Melo is much better player(i don't like him all that much) but the match up problems that they would create would be too much to handle.

I hope that they target them and don't get either of them. Along with Dwight running from them at break neck speed it would look good on them.

Blazers are targeting Tim Duncan and Chris Paul.

See how easy it is to start a rumor?

It's little more valid than that..
and Blazers have as much chance of landing superstar FA as Raptors (if not less)

Yes, because Carmelo plays SO WELL with other big name players..

This won't happen.

LeBron will sign the 2 year extension with the Heat. If doesn't get another ring during those 2 years he will probably sign else where for MJ/Kobe money.

If Kobe doesn't take a pay cut next year and demands max, the lakers will have to give him a deal similar to this deal according to the new CBA. If they choose to that is.

1st year $31,976,495
2nd year $34,374,732

Duh. You need to say that you have sources. Otherwise it looks fake. :cookie:

Doc? :confused2:

I think the big question would be, who would want to follow in Kobe's shadow?

woodchuck 07-19-2013 10:12 AM

Anyway, what else are the Lakers supposed to do? They'll pretend they are trying to win this year and waiting for LeBron. In the mean time they'll lose a bunch of games and get a Marcus Smart or Jabari Parker or such. Then they'll re-sign Kobe/Pau and try to add LeBron or Melo or Bosh.

And when it fails, they'll develop their rookie and target Marc Gasol / Brook Lopez / Kevin Love / LaMarcus Aldridge / Rondo next year.

Realistically, the 2015 free agency should be much stronger than the 2014. LeBron / Melo are pipe dreams, they are both in great markets that they chose themselves, and have little reason to join the Lakers.

But Marc Gasol or Love? That would sound absolutely feasible. Maybe even two of them.

They can't tell their fans "wait a couple years" but in reality that's what likely will happen. In 2015 they could have a very good team.

Kobe / 2014 high pick on the wings
Love / Marc Gasol / Pau Gasol rotation up front

That's a sexy team and some variation of it would be pretty realistic.

As far as the Lakers getting Lebron or Melo. Lebron is a no chance I think personally, I don't see why he would go there. But I believe Melo will, or will at least strongly consider it. Melo couldn't win on his own no matter how hard he tried.

LET'S GO RAPTORS!!!!! 07-19-2013 11:39 AM

LAL have about 10.6 million guaranteed salary for 2014/2015 and about 11.8 million if N.Young uses his PO.

I would love to James grow up, realize he can attract talent and win and go back to cleveland. either that or get the fuck out of the East to anywhere!

Nelly speaking the truth. He couldn't really communicate a specific point, but still on point with most of what he was saying.

Ataf 07-21-2013 06:14 PM

I didn't agree with Nelly said, I don't think Kobe's personality status affected Howard's decision as much as the coach, and management, future, etc... compared to HOU.

Kobe is a leader not in the same regards as any great vocal leaders like Lebron, but Kobe is the type which leads by example. I get Gasol was an all-star, but he wasn't as tough. Few others work harder or even get better like Odom (ask him yourself, he said he NEEDS a player like Kobe to tell him what to do and where to go), he makes Metta work harder, Bynum wouldn't have had any motivation to work at all imo if he hadn't been in this situation with Kobe and Phil. If Bynum was losing on a team which was satisfied with just 'doing your best' rather than 'championship or bust' he'd not be as good. Kobe expects his player's best, if he doesn't, he calls them out. That's why him and Shaq didn't get along, and that's why Bynum and him didn't get along, same with Dwight. All of those 3 have issues of either lack of immaturity, work ethic, and focus.... and Kobe doesn't tolerate that. Cause he knows that you need those to go in order to win a championship. I don't expect Nelly to know that. Just cause he's a loud mouth doesn't make him right... Poor insight IMO.

Edit: People who'd want to play with Kobe are the players who want to win bad and have fun later. Players who don't want to play with Kobe are the goof balls, players who don't take the game seriously... Don't either work hard, or are immature. (excluding star players who want to be the main player) AKA it's a short list of players who you don't want to depend on. You don't become 5 time championship with luck.
