I would REALLY like to keep Vasquez as a backup, because he can also play a bit of SG. Vasquez seems like a guy who can torch second units at the price Calderon should have been paid (MLE $). And the quality depth will be essential to sustaining our record next year, as some other teams bounce back with players returning from injury, or gaining talent elsewhere. Run SG/SF rotation where almost all minutes go to Vasquez, Derozan, Ross next year...

The point is, I'm already coming to terms with us not having the nice cap space I once thought we might have in the summer of 2015. So might as well spend what it takes to keep Lowry.
I like Vasquez. Think he is a really solid player. Same with Patterson. WOuld love to have all 3 of them back(KL, Vas, PP). If we had to lose one, I would probably pick Patterson. I think finding a serviceable 4 is easier.

But good point. Lowry, and Vasquez at a smaller point, are playing themselves into bigger $$$ contracts, which will limit what Toronto can do if they keep those guys.

In a prime market where he is more visible on national American TV Kyle is a star(and All Star) the way he has played. Let's say if the Raps offer 4/44(11 on avg),he might take a 4/38 or 4/40 to play in California, considering all the other perks. He could easily make up for the extra 4M to play in Canada from endorsements and other ventures. He wasn't drafted by the Raps or started his career in TO,my guess is there probably isn't as much loyalty to stay here as let's say someone like DeRozan or Valanciunas in the future.

It is tough to say what Lowry is looking for, only he knows.

He might be a guy that wants to be "THE GUY" and he can be that in Toronto. In LA, he would be more of what Chris Bosh is in Miami. Maybe Lowry wants to be the #1.

Toronto has a small advantage. He has a bond with this team this year. He knows he fits in Toronto. Maybe he really does LOVE it here and wants to stay, and will stay if Toronto gives him a fair deal.

But at the end of the day, $$$ does talk. And Lowry is playing himself into a good pay day. Hopefully with Toronto, at a fair price. But like you said, it is not for sure that will happen.

True, that's the optimistic way of looking at it. I hope he has a good playoff run which helps the Raps get into the second or third round. I'm not ready to see this team stop playing

As far as LA,unless they can use that pick to get a player like Love then I hope they keep it.

The Lakers, though, have money to spend. Lots of it. The catch: They're reluctant to sign players past one-year deals because they want to pursue Kevin Love next year and Kevin Durant in 2016.
Pau Gasol has leverage — but sure, he'd listen to a Lakers offer - latimes.com

you can never have too many young guys, but without lowry this team might miss the playoffs and if JV/Ross are playoff vets b4 their prime. This would be great for the franchise.

But eventually, if this team becomes a contender (which is what Masai is going for) it's highly unlikely Lowry is still "The Guy". I do think he's a great PG and that we should try to keep him though.

The only thing I'm worried about is that it's just contract year performance. Lowry seems super motivated and you gotta wonder if that will go away when he gets paid.
