Lakers Are the Lakers looking to blow it up?

Washington w/Gasol,Nene,Okafur

The Lakers are exploring all kinds of potential deals, having floated every name on the roster this side of Kobe Bryant. They are said to be open to trading Metta World Peace for a late first-rounder, with their eyes on Baylor forward Quincy Miller and Kentucky point guard Marquis Teague.

If the Cavs are able to move up and nab Beal at No. 2, there’s talk the Lakers would be willing to make life easy for the Wizards and help them move out of the third spot. It would likely take power forward Pau Gasol.

I don't know... It just doesn't look right.
You can't surround Kobe with rookies and hope to win another championship. Unless they decided to look into long term.
It takes years to develop second star player that LAL can build around after Kobe's retirement so why not to start now?

IMO they should honestly look to move Kobe if they're going this route. Moving him and Pau now would seriously speed up the rebuild process. But really, i doubt these rumors are true except maybe the MWP one. But i think they could get proven young talent for Pau.

They would be ok trading Pau, it's a given. He hasn't showed up last two playoff runs(whether that's his or Bynum's fault is unknown). Either way, they would give him and his contract up I would easily guess.

And who's gunna take Kobe? He's still a top 5 player, but he's on the decline and getting 30 mill a year.

They would have to take on a Howard/Turkoglu type of package. Or Joe Johnson type of contract.

Kobe >>>> Joe Johnson anyday. and Hawks aren't gunna package Smith with Johnson for anyone on LA. Bynum's almost untouchable IMO

Let's face it, Kobe's a Laker for life lol

@jeff: Kobe has no-trade clause.

I doubt he'd have a problem waiving it if they were going into rebuild mode. In fact i'd say he would demand it. But like i said, i doubt this has any validity. I think Gasol will be move but for more than a draft pick or prospects.

The league cannot afford to blow up their spoiled rotten child. Therefore, when Dwight Howard's back injury is fully healed, he will be on the Lakers.

I don't see any of that happening. Sure they'll shop Pau but unless they get something that will help them now they won't bite. Gasol or J Smoove is about all I could see happening other than a blockbuster Dwight deal.

I agree except the Howard part, hes already refused to sign an extension if he went there, something about Kobe calling him his Robin or Pippen or something like that.
