Fisher has been suspended for striking Houston's Luis Scola with his shoulder and head with 13.2 seconds remaining in the third period of the Lakers' 111-98 win Wednesday over the visiting Houston Rockets in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals at Staples Center. Fisher received a Flagrant Foul Penalty Two and was ejected from the game at the time of the play.

Jackson also announced that the Lakers' Kobe Bryant has been assessed a Flagrant Foul Penalty One for elbowing Houston's Ron Artest in the chest area with 6:57 remaining in the fourth period of Wednesday night's game.

Alston will serve his suspension on Friday when the Magic hosts the Celtics at Amway Arena. Fisher also will serve his suspension on Friday when the Lakers visit the Rockets at Toyota Center.
Looks like Kobe isn't suspended but these were also rightfully deserving

the silver lining from these ejections - if there is any - is that hopefully Kobe wont be throwing any cheap shots from here on out, seeing as he'll be in the spotlight for his previous cheap shots.
this means that when Artest and the rest of the boys start bullying him and getting in his face, he wont be able to throw elbows or do anything cheap - without thinking about the punishment that may result.

i hope they swarm that bitch!

Yeah man. He played Stringer perfectly though. I wish they could have made it into a logner series, I think that was the best show Ive ever watched.

anybody else find these suspensions hilarous, by nba standards there weak they should 2 or 3 games, by my standards they would be playing but the reason why I say that is because Amare got a game for crossing the line and coming back?

which cost them the series and ruined SSOL forever, way to go Stern, now when talk about how amare got suspended it seems laughable like joke, it almost seems like its bullshit that you can never suspend someone for that but they did, the nba are bunch of morons which honestly isn't a surprise considering who is laying down the fines just ask Vancouver and bryant reeves check book

The problem with the suspensions is the rulebook. The whole intent thing is garbage if it isnt malicious.

Like Doc Rivers said, no one should be suspended in the playoffs.

Unless of course theyre really trying to hurt a guy and the act does fuck a guy up. Honestly, if Fisher does that to Yao and Yao doesnt fall like hes been hit with a cannonball like Flopola, does Fisher get a game? No.

Alston gets suspended for a soft slap to a players head? Comeon.

Posey gets suspended for running into Hinrich at full speed but not even extending?

Amare and Diaw for running past a point but not even doing anything?

The NBA needs to fire Stu Jackson and re write the rulebook especially when it comes to the playoffs. The players should be deciding the games, and they should be only sitting out if they go Kobe on somebody. Its bad enough injuries take away a ton of key guys every year, soft suspensions shouldnt too. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE DAYS WHERE YOU COULD PUNCH SOMEONE AND NOT GET KICKED OUT. Heh.

Dude, they are adults, not neanthertals. The rules are there to keep things from scalating. You cant let them do whatever they want. Fisher could have broken a couple of Scolas teeth easily with the head. Alston slap was something more typical from a five year old. Both deserve a suspention.

You can't not have suspensions in the playoffs - the standards need to be the same in the regular season as they are in the post season. It would be like the NBA handing "get out of jail free" cards to the Bruce Bowens of the NBA.

The NBA seriously needs to reevaluate its flagrant foul system. Call it a gray area but the inconsistencies are too much. The trend of recent flagrant foul calls (and the lack of flagrant foul calls) have me doubting what a flagrant foul actually is. Is a guy making a play on the ball or not? CAN he make a play on the ball? Could a 6'1" Rajon Rondo really have blocked a 7'0" Brad Miller's shot?

To me, flagrant fouls are now subjective to the point that Stu Jackson isn't even making calls based on a working definition anymore. It's bullshit.

I don't know how Ron Ron didn't get suspended when he got in Kobes face. Entertaining though
