if those 2 are realistic possibilities, you have to go after them. But I don't think it's realistic.

Personally, if the Lakers can't get those 2, I'd want them to get Nate McMillan.

They got some great options out there. Sloan-Phil-McMillan-Van Gundy etc.

Don't know how realistic those options are though however.

Didn't their owner JUST say Mike Brown's job is safe? LMAO

I thought they just needed some time. Can't wait to see who gets the Kobe hatchet next.

I know that chances of them going cheap and bringing in a new coach are slim to none but IF they go that route I'd like to see Brian Shaw get the job. He got the shaft last time.

WE WANT PHIL

Although if he comes back, he'll likely bring the triangle back with him. And a lot of Nash's talents are wasted in the triangle, except his shooting ability.

I don't buy that. Phil is a basketball genius. He finds ways to maximize talent. He's has always been a guy that tailors the offense for certain players. That's how he always gets the most out of his guys, especially the role players.

Here's a quote from Brian Shaw from 2010 when asked about how Nash would look in the triangle offence:

Quote:
[Nash] would probably explore things differently than some other guys that we typically have out there. There are certain areas of the offense- for instance that Kobe [Bryant] manipulates to get himself at the elbows or down at the post to take advantage of his size or his athletic ability over his defenders. Somebody like Steve Nash can put himself in situations where he could create more screen and roll. We have everything that he's running in Phoenix, or in Dallas and the teams he's played for, we have the ability to do that out of our offense. We don't, because we don't have that type of player. But if we did, we would just incorporate those aspects of it for someone like him.

Here's a quote from Brian Shaw from 2010 when asked about how Nash would look in the triangle offence:
I buy that Nash isn't a Phil Jackson PG - Phil Jackson has always had defensive minded, role-playing PGs start. Ron Harper, Derek Fischer, BJ Armstrong etc.

It will be out of the norm with Nash. Theoretically every player has a place in every offense, especially when you're as good as Nash.

Can you name me a Phil Jackson team that was centered around a PG controlling the basketball and running pick and rolls.

Can you name me a Steve Nash team not centered around the pg making the decisions and running pick and rolls.

Not good; not bad;

Personally; I think at this stage in Nash's career he'll become more Danny Ainge which isn't a bad thing - make big plays on both ends of the court, but let Kobe & Dwight carry the offense.

I'm not convinced that Nash can be a great fit. The defense started off in a bad place, and Nash doesn't help. Dwight does, but not enough. A lot comes down to Gasol and I'm not sure he responds the way he needs to when his role is so diminished at the same time.

And I'm not at all convinced Phil is the answer, or that he wants to be the answer.

The Lakers used to run a lot of pick and roll with Kobe/Gasol back in '09 and it was pretty successful. I'm sure they'd do the same with Nash/Dwight (which is obviously even more lethal) and if the pick and roll is not there, you can make a pass to initiate the triangle.
