LA LAKERS WIN THE 2010 NBA CHAMPIONSHIP

STARTERS:

LAL

Derek Fisher
Kobe Bryant
Ron Artest
Pau Gasol
Andrew Bynum

BOS

Rajon Rondo
Ray Allen
Paul Pierce
Kevin Garnett
Kendrick Perkins

KEY ROTATION PLAYERS:

LAL

Jordan Farmar
Shannon Brown
Lamar Odom

BOS

Nate Robinson?
Tony Allen
Glen Davis
Rasheed Wallace

Key Matchups:

KG vs Pau- KG won the matchup last time but at times had trouble guarding Gasol. With KG being on only 1 leg, hes really gotta work that much harder to keep the matchup close.

Kobe vs the Celtics D- This is the biggest matchup thatll decide the fate of this series. Can Kobe free himself to get open jumpers and drives vs the Celtics crazy help defence? The other determining factor in this is how many shots Artest and Fisher can knock down because I expect Pierce especially to be closing a little closer to Bryant than he would if he was guarding Ariza. And with Fisher likely on Ray Allen this series, his legs should be a lot more tired, so his % should go way down vs last series where he was in god mode.

Andrew Bynum. Will he have an impact? He has to if the Lakers are going to win, because if he doesnt then the Lakers size advantage shrinks bigtime and the matchups are more favorable for Boston with KG on Odom instead of Gasol, and Perkins and Sheed having a good post matchup vs Pau.

Rondo and the inside. I'm just curious to see how Rondo does vs Kobe and the length of the frontline. Hard to see him having as big of an impact in the halfcourt but hes proven in the last 3 series hes evolved so it doesnt really matter who hes going against. But I can really see him struggling this series if it's purely a halfcourt game.

And lastly, the benches, but mostly who Boston is going to matchup vs Odom when KG is out of the game. Sheed isnt quick enough to keep him off the boards and same with Davis plus the height advantage. Which guards will play better? Farmar was awful last time vs LA.

PREDICTION:

Lakers in 6. Because, again, [jinx] We all know LA is going to win. [/jinx] My brain says LA my heart says BOS. I just dont know if BOS can score enough in the halfcourt and rebound well enough to win this series. But their intensity and compettitive nature is better than the Lakers bar none, so its a really hard series to call. Hopefully this goes 7 for the first time in like 6 years. Should be a great finals, having a major rivalry like this is huge.

And to think a few weeks ago the Celts would have been lucky to get past the first round.

I think The c**tics have an advantage with home court because after the first two games in LA (I think they would at least sweep) they have three straight home game, which to me is unfair to the team with the better supposed home court advantage. Add to that the C**tics are a great road team and the Lakers have struggled on the road this year.

Still I hope the laker defeat the C**tics.

The 5 day break before the start of the series is going to help Boston. In fact, the scheduling of the whole playoffs has probably helped the Celts' old legs. You don't get this kind of rest during the regular season, and it's enabled the "big 4" to play heavier minutes.

From NBA.com:

Quote:
Rivers made it a priority to have his team healthy for the playoffs, even if it meant losing regular-season games. The Celtics went 27-27 in their last 54 after starting the season, while healthy, at 23-5.

"I thought after 28 games you could say we felt like we were the best team in the NBA, and then after that we had injuries, we fell apart, we struggled finding ourselves," Rivers said. "That stretch, the last month, we formed a game plan.

"We were losing games, but guys were resting and conditioning, and I thought that was the only chance we had. Because the one thing I did learn through the injuries, we were not good enough injured, and we had a chance healthy. There were no guarantees, but we had a chance healthy."

Players concentrated on getting treatment, working in the weight room and resting. Losses were less important.

"Despite what we were going through, everybody was focused," Ray Allen said, "and wanted to be where we are today."

Yea that's the same thing for me. I hate both teams so much but I hate Lakers a little less. So I hope they win

good review thriller!

I'm with you. I wish boston win again but lakers seem to have better team this time
for boston to win Pierce has to score in high 20's (that will be much harder with Artest, who was brought to guard Lebron but will perfectly match here) and KG be able to guard Gasol.
I think Rondo will do just fine against bigger defenders.
Ray Allen is the boston's wild card, if he's hitting his shots lakers matchup balance changes and then who knows...

Lakers in 6

For the record I expect BOS to win in 6 but my predictions have been shattered a lot this playoffs in choosing against BOS thus the LA pick in the OP. I expect BOS to win the title in LA and the reaction of the LA crowd to either be hilarious or something bad is going to happen

Celtics in 7.

Watching them win the 'ship after the year they had would be epic.

I'd love to see KG and PP cement their legacies as Celtics with another ring...would be a great story.

I didn't realize how much PP struggled this year matching up against Ron Artest. PP's big advantage on offense comes from his strength and his ghetto booty, he isn't going to have that same advantage against Artest. If Artest can keep Paul Pierce off of the free throw line Boston is going to have a hard time winning this series.
