I could see the merits in this deal for both teams. While LA should be hesitant to give up a player that has indeed helped set them apart for years in terms of having plenty of talented size and length, Carmelo is an upgrade in talent and could help prolong Kobe's pursuit of titles.

It's definitely better for the Nuggets than what they'd be getting from NY.

Now, this actually makes perfect sense. Especially considering that Kobe and Melo played together and Melo can play PF of the need be.

Edit: I've re-read the title of the thread - I was commenting on Melo for Bynum, reported by RealGM: http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap..._Carmelo_Trade

yeah, Lakers definitely don't do if for Gasol. At that point it's too risky.

if bynum for melo happens lakers become the favourite to win the nba title and i dont see another team that will beat them in a seven game series in the playoffs. Overall, i am sick of these melo rumours there have been hundreds of them this year and nothing has happened!

@trane will do

I would enjoy seeing Kobe and Melo fight for who's going to take the big shots to close out games.

I meant that this would be a perfect trade for Melo and LA (assuming Denver is game). LA gets a really good chance at a three-peat and, as Kobe continues to fade, Melo gets his own team in a prime basketball location.

I can easily see Denver rejecting this deal because that would leave Melo in the same conference, though.

It doesn't say anything about the Lakers not being interested just that what's out there is inaccurate. The trade would have to involve somebody besides Bynum, probably Brown, for Denver to even think about it.

Melo, Kobe, Pau > Wade, Lebron, Bosh?

I would still take the Heat trio over this Lakers one. But the Lakers beat out the Heat when we're talking team-wise.

over the next two years, I'd take the Lakers three in that scenario. Pau is too good up front, and come playoff time, I think Wade and LBJ are going to find it more difficult as each game is likely to be close.

the thing about the lakers' trio is (at least for the next two years) kobe is the clear-cut number one option. Kobe gets the ball at the end of the game, no questions. with the heat it isn't so black and white and that could cause some issues come playoff time.

Bynum is overrated, and hes injured wayyyyyy too much. they should just wait to get dwight Howard in 2012. melo is gonna help them offensively which the lakers have troubles with especially with high ranked teams, wish i could say the same bout their poor defense. I think they should trade Bynum and artest for Melo. Then after a year get Dwight Howard to be the center, who will bring the defense to the table. So u have Kobe,Melo, and Dwight- this big 3 tops the celtics and the heat in my opinion- better ofensively and defesively.

Bynum may be injury prone but how is he overrated? When healthy Bynum is the second best center in the league. Plus he is only 23 years old and already has 5 years of NBA experience. Secondly, Bynum and Artest for Melo would never work. Ever....Thirdly how would the Lakers be able to sign Dwight Howard in 2012 with Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom and Carmelo Anthony on the roster? Are they going to sign him for 800k a year? Ridiculous.

2nd best center in the league? No thats a lil too far. WAt good are they gonna do with an injury prone center anywyz?? fine hbout this

Lakers Get:
Melo,Kenyon martin

Denver gets:
Artest,Bynum,gasol, and shannon brown

So now u got rid of gasol, sign DW12 , for less money. Isnt that how they got the big 3 in miami? they all accepted less money?
Problem Solved. I wouldnt mind throwing Matt Barnes into the bunch just so they can get these 2 players. Theyre gonna leave their teams, for a championship calibur team, which LA is already 1 , and can be a force to reckon with these players on their team.
