Kyrie Irving to miss month

Cavs join Wizards in tank leader early on.

Quote:

CLEVELAND -- Cavaliers star point guard Kyrie Irving will miss at least one month with a broken finger.

The NBA's reigning rookie of the year fractured his left index finger on Saturday against Dallas. The team initially said the finger was only bruised and he played against Philadelphia on Sunday, scoring a season-low 9 points as Cleveland dropped its sixth straight game.

The Cavs said tests on Irving's finger revealed a non-displaced fracture. He will be out a month and re-evaluated in two weeks.

It's the latest injury for Irving, who broke his right hand during a summer practice when he slammed it on a padded wall. The 20-year-old played in just 11 games at Duke because of a foot injury.

Also, the Cavs said forward Tristan Thompson sustained a nasal fracture against the Sixers. He will be fitted with a protective mask.

Now I feel bad for saying he hasn't impressed me the last few games.

Uncle Drew. :sigh:

Pffft. Kobe's played with worse.

still ahead eh cavs, did amazing job tanking last year after 20 games.

Ah, man, I really hope this guy's career does not end up plagued by injuries. He seems to get hurt every couple of months since high school.

It didn't really bother me much when Bosh left Toronto, but I felt we were in a better position than the Cavs at the time who were capped out and didn't really have any promising prospects. Fast forward two years: the Cavs have their franchise player along with some good prospects and Varejo has been great thus far. They didn't rush to sign a free agent for the sake of using all their cap space (which many teams do), rather are building through the draft. This is going to put them in line for a lottery pick this year, probably top five wth Irving out. They have a ton of cap space next year to add a free agent or can tank and add another lottery pick for 2014. The multitude of assets they possess will provide them with ammunition to improve their team via the trade market and/or free agency. With no bad contracts, a potential all-star point guard who doesnt get a big extension until 2015, quality prospects, likely a 2013 top 5 pick, and cap space for the next two to three seasons, it's going to be interesting to see how the Cavs look in two years from now.

Time to buy low. Bargnani + Lowry.

Cavs are hosed. They deserve it too. Arrogance is not always bliss.

DDUnreal 11-21-2012 02:49 PM

He was killing it on my fantasy team too :(

Cleveland would be a good destination for Jose, perhaps in a three team deal...

Superjudge 11-21-2012 09:28 PM

ya, other teams tank with much more focus than toronto.

A lot of fans here dont seem to mind that Toronto has no pick this year...its a massive issue to me. Not shitty enough or smart enough to go low, not good enough to go to the playoffs. Oklahoma is looking fucking GREAT right now.

Jeremy Pargo steps in at the starting PG spot and drops 28/5/5 (4-8 from 3) to lead the Cavs to a win over the Sixers.

Who needs Kyrie? :cookie:
