Usually I'd say I'd bet he plays next game, but Dahntay Jones Bowen'd him pretty good, and no human being doesn't miss at least a few games after landing like Kobe did.

I think they'll manage without him to keep onto 8th. they're definitely talented enough...

is kobe's biggest fear that they will now rattle off a bunch of consecutive wins with nash and howard turning into a deadly #1 combo?

Take a good long look at that lineup without Kobe........man it's ugly. Time for Nash/Howard to carry this team. lol

Remember though, depth means nothing in the NBA

He walked off looking in decent shape. I say he's out 1 game and maybe 2 games max.

you have to take a few weeks off after a severe sprain, otherwise you are taking significant long term risks. this isn't the same as playing with a bum finger or fever, it's not just pain. if it's really severe and he comes back and plays instantly, it's Kevin McHale-ish and could lead to him reinjuring it every few months, at which point it'd be surgeries and short seasons.

Disappointing. I hope they can manage the playoff berth still. Acie, are you sure? I haven't heard anything about Gasol and the last thing I do remember hearing was that he was pretty much out until the playoffs.

He's fine. He walked off the court. This ESPN drama is totally hyped.

I think he'll miss at least 1. Indy has some of the best defense in the NBA... not a team you'd want to play when you're at 50%.

I think it would actually benefit the Lakers a lot if he sat a couple TBH. See what Nash and Howard are really capable of. If they can keep winning it'll give the whole team more confidence going into the post-season and will probably increase Kobe's trust that they can get it done without him carrying them.

i don't think that means much necessarily, Kobe's a proud guy and it was right after the sprain. I had a severe sprain too once and the pain was manageable right away. Maybe it's the adrenaline rush or something. I knew it was bad but i managed to slowly walk home as well. Then it swells up in a couple hours and i couldn't put weight on it for 3 weeks, longer till i could properly walk. Trying to walk too soon = pain and cramps.

I mean, maybe you could have a painkiller shot and really strong tape / shoe support and then limp through a game. But that's insane in my opinion, it could lead to a weak ankle long term.

After finally climbing back above .500, the Lakers may get Pau Gasol back soon to help bolster their playoff run.

Gasol's initial prognosis, after tearing the plantar fascia of his right foot, was a minimum of six to eight weeks for recovery.

Injured on Feb. 5 in a win against the Brooklyn Nets, Gasol has hit the five-week mark but could be back as early as next week.

On Tuesday, the veteran forward/center ran through his first on-court basketball drills. As long as he doesn't face any setbacks Wednesday, he'll continue to ramp up his activity.

While there isn't a concrete date yet, a reasonable guess would be the March 22 game against the Washington Wizards at Staples Center.

What injury has ever stop kobe from playing throughout the years of his NBA career? Injured Black Mamba still can put up 20-30 points
