Hopefully he'll be better than ever come 08-09 season now that he's finally getting surgery :reporter:

Still can't win a championship without the assistance of Shaq though. :giggle:

Kobe, tell me how my ass tastes...

Major 07-30-2008 12:23 PM

Well LAL is favoured to win it all this year. You never know :dancing:

Laker haters...

Ugo Ferst 07-30-2008 10:14 PM

1) He was playing hurt most of the year and still lead his team to the best record in the west, the finals, and the MVP.

2) They did all that with Gasol only coming in mid-way thru the campaign, and Bynum, who was just coming into his own as a double-double machine, out most of the year, stop hating!!

Acie 07-30-2008 10:45 PM

Sounds like excuses to me.

If he's hurt so badly, why is he playing in the Olympics?

They used to be good, but then they lost Magic, Worthy, Scott, Cooper, Kareem et al. :dancing:

Simple, he saw his laker team had a real shot to win it all, so he put off surgery cuz love him or hate him, he is one of the tougher players in the league, and probably the most mentally tough on the court. More then a few players would have opted for the finger surgery right when the injury happened, and its definately not as easy injury to play with. These Olympics mean ALOT to Kobe aswell, he wants to put the USA back at the top, like many Americans he feels embarrassed from the last few US efforts, and i'll make an early and easy pick for Kobe as Olympic MVP and USA with the Gold ;)

Sounds like a lot more excuses to me.

Mentally tough?

Did he even play in the Finals?

The Olympics are important to him or the companies that endorse him?

Snooch 07-31-2008 09:10 AM

I actually hate Kobe Bryant

Acie 07-31-2008 09:25 AM

I don't hate him, but I'm not a fan.

I do think he's the most talented swingman in the game today though, but I also take exception when 14-18 year old boys anoint him the greatest ever when he couldn't even carry "the greats" jockstraps.

If you mean that he isnt one of the 50 greatest players ever or top 5 swingmen ever? I think your a hater, not only he is the best offensive player in the league for many years, he plays shutdown, lockdown D. He is definately one of the greats and will always be known for that, already 3 rings and counting.

Belsius 07-31-2008 09:51 AM

I think we should prohibit the use of the word "hater" in this forum.

One of the greats in a watered down league where he plays against guys who the closest they would've got to the NBA 20, 30, 40 years ago would've been to buy a ticket to a game?

LX 07-31-2008 04:25 PM

I really like how he gives his kids a hug at halftime of a Finals game, in front of the cameras of course. *wipes tear* Beautiful baby. Beautiful. I only wish I could hug him myself.

40 years ago? Considering black players were only allowed in the league starting in 51, and that was just a few for the next 15 years or so, i would dispute your claim, and i would also claim athletes today are faster, taller, stronger etc etc. To shrug Kobe off because of the era he is playing in is ridiculous, he would be a prolific scorer in ANY era. He has a deeper all around game then Jordan at both ends of the floor, basically he can do it all. To even dispute that is nonsense imo.
