magic, kareem, wilt, west, kobe. in that order. if kobe wins the championship this year he might move ahead of west. maybe.

Shaq played his best basketball as a Laker. I would put him ahead of Kobe as well.

The simple answer is no, but he is up there with the other LA greats.

Unfortunately, people have a short memory span.

and Shaq should definitely be in there as he was unstoppable for those 3 years they won the championship in his prime

But Kobe has been the best in the league for years now. He's lead the Lakers to 4 championships, and is probably going to win one or two more. He's the all-time scoring leader for the Lakers. Magic, Kareem, and West were amazing, but I think Kobe might not just go down as the greatest laker but a top 5 player of ALL-TIME.

Can't we ask this question when his career is over?

He's got a long way to go before his career is over. To even suggest such a question, even if it isnt true, shows just how great he is when his career hasn't even come to an end yet.

well said.

Also its very hard to compare great players from one era to another. Kobe is a great player and will go down at one of the greatest Laker and maybe the best depending on who you ask. Great career and still years left in the tank to add on to his legacy.

Is Kobe even better than Elgin Baylor?

You could easily put him in there too.
