Knicks Knicks willing to part with Gallinari for Melo?

Quote:
A source told ESPN that in recent days the Knicks have made significant progress putting together an offer that could land Carmelo Anthony in New York.

For two weeks, the Knicks have been working on a deal that would include Anthony Randolph, Eddy Curry and a first-round draft pick acquired from a third team. New York is also now more willing to part with Danilo Gallinari.

The source indicated that the Knicks are confident they can use one of their assets -- likely either Randolph or Gallinari -- in a three-team trade that would send a player to Denver whom the Nuggets prefer. This was a recent impediment to completing the deal that the Knicks feel can now be overcome.

The source said that the Bulls remain in the trade discussions surrounding Anthony but Joakim Noah's recent contract extension would preclude his inclusion in Chicago's offer. Anthony is known to have the Knicks and Bulls at the top of his wish list.

The Nets have reportedly faded from their pursuit of Anthony, with New jersey now disinclined to deal the third overall pick, Derrick Favors.

The Knicks may have to part with an additional asset or two -- such as Toney Douglas -- to obtain the first-round pick that can be packaged to Denver in a trade that sends Anthony to New York.

geting Gallo would be huge for Denver

Gallo is on his way up and probably a 20 ppg player this year,

it would be a nice stop gap for Denver

we all know Denver has to make this move, they cant sit by and watch Melo leave, they need to be proactive and not be the Cavs and the Raps with 14 millions, and two late first round picks,

Gallo is a little overrated also considering he's playing for his "stepfather" D'antoni. Anyway Gallo is a good player that can became very good. And for Denver is not that easy to land another star player for Melo.

well tell me who they can get thats better than Gallo

Gallo is a player who gets 15 a game with good shooting numbers, Randolph is a unproven talent who is on the line of draft bust or player and will probably fall out of favor under D'antoni in the first month of the season

Agree, Given that you can't get another star-level player Gallo is a very good choice, Also given that Carmelo wants to go to NY (or his wife)

If Melo goes to NY the raps need to seriously tank cause we will have absolutely no chance of making the play offs

we won't have to make an effort of tanking, we'll end up losing 75% of our in-division games anyway.

True but at least if we tank we can get a top 5 pick!

If Denver managed to get Gallo and Randolph for Melo, that wouldn't be too bad (although I realize Denver seems to want something from a 3rd team rather than Randolph).

After the way things worked out, Toronto and Cleveland would be pretty content with receiving that package for their lost all-stars.

I wonder which teams will start fighting for Billups, and I wonder how much Denver could get?

I could see him in Orlando (dont think the back up situation is good) and Boston for the heck of it, just so they can be badass

To my knowledge, New jersey wouldn't give up Lopez. That was the sticking point. Favours + Harris could have been a nice package, but negotiations have apparently gone sour.
