IMO he's not that great of a coach. He's good, sure, but look at the teams he coached. bulls with jordan, LA with 4 hall of famers, one in his prime and one in development, and then again a hall of famer and multiple all stars with L.A. Realy, this is a waste of money on NY's part, but then again, it is NY..

Even if you argue that he's been with great players his entire career you're still neglecting to look at what those teams have become when he's gone. They become disjointed with the powerful personalities simply taking over. Jackson is a great coach, not because of his x's and o's (even though I'm a big fan of the Triangle), it's because all of those guys buy in at once. They trust him. That's what leadership is. When all the guys simply follow and that's why he's a great coach. |

They'll have to spend more money on players. Deeeeeep into luxury tax. Phil only goes to stacked teams. We'll never know if he is actually a great coach.

I can't believe Phil Jackson being a great coach is even in debate. You may not like him but this guy has done things only Red Auerbach has surpassed. I guess you can say Red was crap if he didn't have the greatest centre of all time at his disposal.
You may not lke him but he did it and you need great players to do it. Great players make Great Coaches and if Phil isn't a great coach I guess I'm watching a different game. Have a little respect for history. Saying all that I hope he doesn't take the Knicks job I think he is too old to coach again. He should be a GM or advisor or something. |

Just because your team has a bunch of talent, it doesn't guarantee Championships.. Phil Jackson knows how to coach talent..
the teams he has won with were not winning or taking that next step without him He is a great Coach |

Were the lakers not winning once they got pau? I think that jordan team and multiple lakers teams would have been successful with.another coach at the helm.

those teams were winning during the season, but not winning championships.. Phil got those teams over the hump not saying other coaches couldn't do that, but with Jackson there was an immediate impact |
