Knicks sign China's Sun Yue, report says

(AFP) 11 hours ago

NEW YORK The New York Knicks have picked up China's six-foot-nine (2.06-metre) point guard Sun Yue, signing the Olympian to a partly guaranteed contract, the New York Times reported.

Sun, who was waived by the Los Angeles Lakers earlier this year, will participate in the Knicks training camp which begins later this month, the paper said, citing Sun's agent Charles Bonsignore.

The 23-year-old, known in his homeland as the Chinese Magic Johnson, won an NBA championship with the Lakers despite spending most of the season on the inactive roster, and was waived in July.

Sun signed a two-year contract with the Lakers in August 2008 after averaging 6.8 points and 2.5 assists a game for the Chinese national team in the Beijing Olympics.

Pruitt, Sun yue. One mans trash is another mans...trash.

Though I like Pruitt if he'd ever grow some balls. Hes got good quickness and a good jumper.

Sun Yue will flourish in New York. In Los Angeles, he didn't have a towel to wave. In New York, they'll probably let him have 2 towels.

And we weren't the laughing stock of the league when we were bringing in guys like Jamario Moon and Hassan Adams?

You invite these guys to camp and if they play well enough to earn a contract, then it's a good thing. It's called "no-risk, high reward".

I may be in the minority here, but a 6'9" point guard is an intriguing project, they sure as hell aren't a dime a dozen, this is a nice pickup by the Knicks. If he works out and explodes it's highway robbery, if it doesn't work out then you have a 6'9" point guard as a bench warmer. Low-risk high reward as Mango mentioned.

agree 100%.....POB is kinda like that for us.....they both still have potential....they just need some playing playing time and build some experience.....i personally think its a great pickup for the knicks.....
