Default Knicks, Rockets Near T-Mac Deal That Includes Jeffries, Hill

Surprised the Knicks already gave up on Hill

Quote:
The Knicks and Rockets have made progress on a proposed trade that would send Jared Jeffries, Jordan Hill and either Al Harrington or Larry Hughes in exchange for Tracy McGrady, Joey Dorsey and Brian Cook.

Yahoo! Sports reports that "an agreement is within reach" and that the two teams are "increasingly confident" that the trade will be completed before Thursday's deadline.

In a part of the deal described as "fluid," the Knicks might swap 2011 picks with the Rockets and/or send their 2012 pick to Houston. One of New York's 2010 second-round picks could also be sent to the Rockets.

The deal would give the Rockets young talent in exchange for McGrady, a player no longer in the team's plans, while the Knicks have a look at McGrady the rest of this season and clear approximately $9.5 million more of salary cap room for their summer free-agent pursuits. Unless the salary cap drops dramatically -- which is no longer expected -- the Knicks' ability to shed Jeffries, along with Hill, could open up the extra cap space needed to offer a second maximum contract this summer.

or..They want T-Mac.

which means they want LeBron.

since they're getting rid of the rest of their burdens/long contracts(Jeffries), an expiring+Jeffries for a longer expiring makes sense, especially since McGrady is still good

That is one ugly ass trade for Houston! Especially if they get Harrington. Is his contract expiring?

T-Mac looks like he is following the footsteps of Steve Francis. First the Orlando, Houston, and now New York. Whats next Portland? Then retirement?

aren't both harrington and hughes are expiring?

let me get this straight...they're gonna drop down in the first, give up their second arounder and possible 2012 first rounder with hill to ditch six million? sounds bogus.

works for both teams.
Houston gets Al and jeffries who can both score and defend, and get rid of tmac and cook who rarely play.
ny gets tracy who can now hog the ball as much as he likes lol

Why would they give up Jordan Hill? he's a raw talent and last I read, the Knicks seemed high on him. Christ what a backwards organization. They're going after the home run, but really they have a decent foundation with Galinari and Lee. Harrington has been great as the sixth man and Duhon is solid.

Yep. I remember when they took on any contract in the league when Isiah was running the show. (ie. Jalen Rose)

think again.. this trade is not Harrington to houston, its about getting Hill and some First round picks that will set up nicely for next season when Yao returns.

I only see harrington as a rental cuz he is expiring

I guess the consensus is that Jeffries will pick up that player option, but damn, that's a hefty price to pay just to save 14 million.

Hill isn't very good at all imo, Jeffries is a joke, Harrington is an expiring so he's pointless. So essentially they got a couple picks for T-Mac which they could have got anywhere.

How much of Hill have you seen? He's only played like in a shade over 20 games and doesn't get minutes at all. Houston would be getting a nice piece in Hill and expirings in Harrington and Hughes. They just have to endure Jeffries for next season. Hill's a former a lotto pick. Not a bad haul.

I'll admit i haven't seen Hill alot, but what i have seen he hasn't impressed me at all. The other players they got are awful, so that leaves draft picks and obviously capspace. I just thought they would do alot better then that.

Because you haven't seen him play alot, doesn't necessarily mean he's a bad player. And he's a rookie, so it's awfully quick to write him off. In the end, the Rockets would be getting a player who was a lotto pick and cap space. Not bad. What more would they have received?
