Are the Knicks for real?

I know its still early, but we're all going nuts after a couple of games without Lowry so it fits here. Are they actually capable of finishing with a first or second seed in the east and going deep? Or is it Amares return ruins everything again?

Dario 11-13-2012 11:31 PM

lol. no. 82 games fella, not 20

Don Vito 11-13-2012 11:55 PM

Amare will ruin whatever they got going. Melo & Amare can't co-exist, the knicks organization needs to realize this & ship someone out (probably Amare).

Weren't the Leafs for real too? Someone find that thread where the Knicks were compared to the Leafs.http://imageshack.us/a/img192/7959/s...er207filen.png

I would take Amare for Bargnani + Ross/Ed. As much as I don't like saying it, we can't rely on Lowry playing 38 a night and not get injured with how hard he plays so I'd like to keep Jose as our best bench player.

Carmelo is injured last season; the Knicks go on a tear.
Amare is injured this season; the Knicks go on a tear.
When both are healthy; the Knicks stink.

When were the Loafs for real since the last lockout? And yes they've been compared to the Loafs, constant sellouts for a garbage product. An extremely rich team that's been mismanaged for the better part of the last decade and continues to make boatloads of money. The only difference is the Knicks attract superstars.

To answer the question, no they aren't for real. A bonified top 5-6 team, absolutely but beyond that not likely.

Raptorman 11-14-2012 10:57 AM

My world does not include an undefeated Knicks team. Dec 21 2012 cant come fast enough.

ClutchCity 11-14-2012 12:33 PM

But, but, but Kirby said they would suck because the Raptors beat them in pre-season LOL

Hasn't even been 10 :cookie:

NYK need to play Melo at PF position primarily. He has better chances going against slower PF's than trying to beat smaller guards in the post. This will be difficult to do with Amare in the lineup.

ClutchCity 11-14-2012 03:07 PM

The Knicks rank number 2 in offensive efficiency and number 1 in defensive efficiency. Wow.

They won't keep that up, but that is damn impressive. And I agree with anyone who says Amar'e will fuck this up if he returns.

Also, the Knicks are for real in that they'll win a lot of regular season games (as I have said for some time now). Are they a contender? I doubt it.

TORaptor4Ever 11-14-2012 06:01 PM

Other than the win against MIA I haven't seen them play a decent team yet.

Superjudge 11-14-2012 06:03 PM

they are as real as their record.

its that simple.

Thinking about it some more, I think this team can continue to succeed with Amar'e back. The key will be to bring him off the bench. I don't think he fits well with the starters. Making him the 6th man and having guys like JR Smith and Iman Shumpert (when healthy) would be a ridiculous bench. Not to mention guys like Camby, Kurt Thomas, Novak, and Prigioni. Maybe even adjust it and have Iman starting and bring Kidd off the bench with Amar'e, JR, and Kurt Thomas. Amar'e fits much better with someone like Thomas than he does with Chandler. And he can run pick and roll with Kidd, with JR spreading the floor. They are a loaded team.

Amar'e doesn't perform his best when he plays with a big like Chandler who clogs the paint. Someone like Kurt Thomas can hit the midrange J and free up space for Amar'e to drive or play pick and roll. I really think Amar'e off the bench could work. The key is for him to accept that role.
