Knicks Knicks might look to move Amare, are leading the charge for Chandler

Quote:
With the Knicks close to acquiring Tyson Chandler, they may begin exploring trade scenarios for Chris Paul involving Amar'e Stoudemire.

Paul is widely believed to prefer a deal that ends up with him going to the Knicks.

The Knicks have jumped ahead of the Warriors in pursuing Tyson Chandler, according to sources.

If New York reaches an agreement with Chandler, they will amnesty Chauncey Billups and then attempt to trade Ronny Turiaf.

Chandler could receive a four-year deal from the Knicks at $14 million annually.

"New York is Tyson's first choice," a source told ESPN's Marc Stein. "It's 98 percent sure that Tyson is going to wind up with the Knicks."

The Knicks may work out a sign-and-trade with the Mavericks where Billups is involved, according to Newsday's Alan Hahn.

If all this happened and they sign Grant Hill:

Paul
Hill
Melo
Balkman?
Chandler

HAHAHAHA. this would be so funny if this happened.

this is what i'm talking about. its a business people! quit holding grudges and using the "loyal" card against players that are free to sign wherever they want as free agents! look how "loyal" these teams are.....as we see examples of rondo and amare now.

This has really gotten ridiculous. If they amnesty Chauncey, what the fuck was the point of selling the farm for him + 'Melo when they would have gotten him in free agency anyways? And Tyson Chandler being anywhere near Amar'e in talent level is horseshit. If the Knicks acquire Paul at the expense of Stoudemire and Billups, I really don't see their win column getting any higher.

I do. Chris Paul is a top 2-3 PG in this league, Chandler is one of if not the best defensive Center in the league, those two with Melo and Grant hill and they're a 50 win team imo. Not too sure about their bench though. They would at the very least finally have some defense coupled with pretty damn good offense.

ya i agree. they also got a 3 point threat in toney douglas stretch the floor and paul's always played with a 3 point shooter and made them look good. there's also landry fields. the only thing is they don't really have a PF

WTF is NYK thinking?

I'm sorry but Chandler + Melo + CP3 + Hill =/= contender

That team will be oatmeal when they face CHI, MIA and perhaps even BOS.

And you're going to turn around and exile Amare one year after he helped bring your team back to relevance???

Hoo boy....

Their big mistake was getting rid of all of their assets for Melo.

If they could have swung a deal for CP3 and paired him with Amare and another decent piece THAT would have been a nice core.

ya, not quite contenders yet, but if paul can take last years hornets team to 6 games vs the lakers, i'm sure he can take the knicks to the 2nd round at least in the East. they'll have to do more to surround that core and piece together a complete team to contend.

A bummer for Amare. Maybe they could trade him back to Phoenix in a three way.

If the Knicks amnesty Billups to get Chandler then theyre off their fucking rocker. They handcuff themselves with 3 huge contracts and an inability to get anyone else because they have no other assets. I can see doing this scenario for Paul, but Chandler? Wtf?

that team is basically 2008 Hornets MINUS some of Chandler's and CP3 health MINUS defensive attitude MINUS bench PLUS Melo instead of David West.

Yeah, I don't see it. 08 Hornets won 56 games btw, but this team seems worse.

The Knicks are nearing completion on a deal with Tyson Chandler worth $58 million over four seasons.

After their efforts to trade for Chris Paul stalled, sources say the Knicks intensified their efforts to sign Chandler.

In order to sign Chandler, the Knicks will need either amnesty or trade Chauncey Billups.

The Warriors were previously in the market for Chandler, but they are all but out of the running.

Marc Stein reports that the Mavericks are uninterested in taking back Billups in a sign-and-trade for Chandler.

lol Mavs should do the sign and trade just so Knicks can give him the 5 years at 80 mil or something.

Chandler and no flexibility for Billups and flexibility. Genius. Isiah is still running the Knicks.

Sign and trades no longer allow teams to do that. If he is signed and traded, he will receive the exact same deal length - it would, however, allow the starting salary to be higher, so long as the Knicks can put together enough salary going the other way.

Ill rather have a Paul/Melo/Amare combo than Paul/Melo/Chandler imo. Chandler is not capable of even doing what Amare can, and to top it off, chandler gets a ton of point soff his lobs

The sort of lobs that Paul, for example, might throw? Plus, you know, he can play defense.

at least something's right then. How much salary they need to send then? the new 150% rule applies, or is there something different with S&T?

If New York acquires Paul, that would mean they've invested almost all of their payroll into 3 guys. It makes perfect sense, especially if they aquire Chandler, to explore their options with Amare. He's a great player, but if they can get a package of players that can balance their team out a little more then the Knicks have to consider it.

Kevin Martin + Luis Scola for Amare anyone?

Paul
Martin
Melo
Scola
Chandler

That would be a hell of a team. The salaries match-up too.

They can't do that, the idea is to trade Amare for CP3.
