Kleiza Signs with Olympiakos

Quote:
If the Nuggets rescind their qualifying offer to Linas Kleiza, the Raptors could show interest in the Lithuanian.

Denver could rescind the qualifying offer in order to avoid going over the luxury tax.

However, Doug Smith of the Toronto Star wrote on Sunday that Kleiza would likely go play in Europe if he is only able to get a minimum contract in the NBA.

Via Toronto
RealGM: Basketball Wiretap Archives: Raptors Might Still Afford Kleiza

-Would MLSE go over the tax momentarily to get kleiza if BC had a deal lined up to dump salary (Banks,Ukic or Douby)? Because it'll take more then 1Mil.

If BC could do this....wow!

no to linas plz. not that i dont like him we just dont need him. We seriously need a shot bloker/rebounder on this team. Kleiza is a scorer we dont need any more of that. i wish we signed birdman hed be perfect for this team. i think if Bargnani doesnt improving his rebounding and belinelli starts we are going to be in trouble. Bargnani and neli are bad rebounders. why cant we just resign pops.

I don't know, i would love this lineup

Jose/Jack/Belinelli
Belinelli/Derozan/Wright
Turkoglu/Kleiza/Wright
Bosh/Evans/Pops
Bargs/Rasho/POB

We'd have to get rid of Ukic or Douby or both....but good ridance.

Meh, I say we pass on Linas. I maybe one of the only ones here, but I really want to see what Wright can do and believe he'll be more valuable than some may think. He's more than capable in being Hedo's back up now while at the same time can be some insurance at SG spot too. Let's save ourselves from overpaying Linas.

We can't overpay. We have limited funds, unless we go over the tax.

Kleiza's probably more effective backing up the four than he is the three. I'm gonna say if we pick up Kleiza we don't need to pick up Pops to be the third power forward.

True, that can work.

Jose/Jack/Beli
Belinelli/Derozan/Wright
Turkoglu/Kleiza/Wright
Bosh/Evans/Kleiza
Bargs/Rasho/POB

Good point.

just asking: if Warrick didn't sign w/the Bucks, could we have gone after him? or we won't have enough to sign him?

We could have gone after him, but it would have been pointless, as I highly doubt that he sees us as enough of a contender to accept a minimum contract, which is all that we could have offered him.

This would just cause a major log-jam. The weak SF theory is poorly founded. Hedo will get the brunt of the minutes, and Wright and DD will fill in otherwise. Wright and DD are the SAME SIZE -6'7 215-220- and capable. You value the term SF in too much of a literal sense. PLayer's don't run around with halos above their head labeling their position. Sometimes you can't tell who's truly playing the 2 or 3, 4 or 5, heck, even the 1. 'If you label me, you negate me!'..

They need to just look at getting a FA that gets overlooked by everybody, on the cheap, to play minimal minutes at the SF.

I've been advocating Wright starting at 2 before and after the trade for Belinelli.

He'd perfectly complement the other 4 starters while Beli would bring energy and scoring off the bench. DD would then be a first guy off the bench behind Hedo and will pick up any slack minutes available at 2.

We need a 3rd string power forward who could also back up SF in a pinch. I doubt Kleiza would be happy with such a role.

Make that 3 of us then.

Wright's a nice fit in the starting lineup because he's just going to be required to hit the open shot and defend (2 things he's good at from what I've seen).

When Jack comes in off the bench (for better D), Belli comes off the bench (for an offensive spark).

I like that rotation.

How caN we do a sign & trade if Denver doesn't want Kleiza?

Plus they wouldn't want Delfino if they don't want Kleiza.

First of all if they don't want Kleiza, that's why they'd S&T him.

Secondly, haven't people learned to never say a certain team wouldn't want our player? Kapono and George were both traded and Delfino is better then both. I doubt that it would every happen but alot of people love to say this kinda shit.
