Default Kidd to the Mavs back on

Well, looks like the deal will be official later today or tomorrow.

Still a shame nothing could of been done before the All-Star game, because there could of been a slim chance we would seen our boy Jose playing last night. Ah well, there's always next year.

Is it just me or does it seem kind of lame trading the contract of a guy who's retired?

Yeah, but as I understood from the discussion they were having on TNT last night, Van Horn is already "retired" and will have to come out of "retirement" only to retire with the Nets now. Seems confusing to me.

he's gonna get paid..... something.
he's already getting paid right now cause he's still under contract right?
so they fly him to dallas, give him some more money and a nice steak dinner, and have him sign some papers.

I like Cuban, but this is a silly move, its a slight improvement but wont make them a major player and they were already weak at centre and trade their backup C? I just dont get the move, Harris is scoring aswell as Kidd this year, granted without the dimes and maybe Kidd D's up a bit better, but overall its not a huge improvement to put them over the top so to speak, and unless Kidd is gonna guard Duncan, Shaq or Gasol i dont see how this makes them any better then they were 2 weeks ago.

This makes Dallas a stronger team - Kidd has intangibles that Harris doesnt have. Plus the Mavs get to keep Stackhouse. I think it's a great trade for Dallas. Aside from Harris, they gave away spare parts for a living legend that is going to help them go deep into the playoffs.

They should have tried to keep Diop and get rid of Stackhouse somehow.

Once Dampier comes out of the game(he only plays like 20 mpg as is) who the fuck is gonna defend Shaq/Amare, Duncan, Boozer, West/Chandler, Gasol/Bynum etc.? And dont tell me Brandon Bass. Hes been very solid this year but at 6'7 there isnt much the kid can do vs the big boys. Dallas needs to make one more trade.

I'm also interested to see who starts at SG now for them. Put Terry beside Kidd and have a more offensive oriented lineup, or bring Terry off the bench to have more balance? If they start Terry there isnt really much off the bench for them at all besides Bass and Jerry(although he sucks this year). They went from like the deepest team in the NBA to not much being back there with one trade.

Yup, costing the Mavs an extra $11 million too.

Only difference from the deal proposed the other day was that Antoine Wright is also going to Dallas too along with Kidd and Allen.

once again, the mavs are about where they were before they made this trade, just with less cap room, less future and smaller window for dirk and now a PG in his mid 30s, no serviceable backup C to go with an average at best starting C and having to face the likes of Yao, Gasol, Shaq and Duncan in the post season, not to mention lakers have bynum and suns have amare on the floor at the same time... Kidd isnt going to help them deal with these guys and Bass is gonna get burned to no end.... gg mav's, i really like you cuban but u just shot off your nose to spite your face, UNLESS you have another trade left in you to get a decent bigman who can D up and grab some boards.

I think the reason alot of you guys like this trade and the Mav's they are kinda like what the Raptors could be in a few years... a team a couple moves away from being great.
