I think Kidd is going to be a fantastic coach, especially with a coach on the floor in KG, and Lawrence Frank backing him up as lead assistant (former coach of Kidd in NJ).

Ya I thought it was funny too how Kidd will be coaching guys he played against. I imagine they all have a lot of respect for him so I see it going well, the only speed bump may be Deron, thats up to him though.

Kidd is a tough ass, Deron won't be an issue.

This either works pretty well, or it flops terribly. I think they need to be able to see the old guys bring a culture from another team, while contributing with their breaking down bodies in order to back it up, and getting guys like Johnson and Williams to buy in. I think it's a tall order although I think the three old guys arriving are the right kind of guys to inject into any team. But they really only have a year to make it work. If I'm a fan of the Nets I'm not sure I'm thrilled with giving up three picks for that.

And Sloan wasn't?

Saw a Woj tweet that said it looked like they'd sign Jason Collins. It's definitely going to be an interesting mix. I think it lands somewhere between Barkley and Clyde joining the Rockets and Malone and Payton joining the Lakers.

Gerald Wallace and 2 former Raptor PF's, for the ultimate trio of Boston old guys.

It's got to be one of the biggest team blow-ups in recent history.
I'm not joking, Bill Simmons almost started crying after this trade was announced.

JKidd and Deron know each other from the 08 Olympics - I'd imagine there'd be no issues there.

It's funny how the celtics get to the 7th seed once, and they blow their team up, but some of the Raptors fans here want to cap ourselves out and make a team that has a shot at being 7th seed. You guys have no patience.

2 very different organizations.

Yes, well the fact they are 2 very different organisations does make all the difference. Raptors fans (and players,) are starved of playoff experience. Of course the key point that you are missing is that the celtics are a fairly old team on the way down and the raps are a young team arguably on the way up. Not even sure the celtics should've blown up but losing an awesome coach and having an old team has logic to rebuild.

That's true, but the Celtics could probably have the Raptors "way up" if they wanted to. Rondo, Jeff Green are very good players + they have a number of other solid young pieces. If they kept KG/Pierce while searching for a few more decent mid 20s starters (or just waited and traded them to the Clippers for DeAndre at midseason, when the NBA wouldn't ban that trade), they'd have that perennial 40-45 wins team.

I think the early reports of this trade might have made a minor error. A couple of salary webpages have Marshon Brooks going to Boston, not Reggie Evans. Since Reggie was a beast on the boards last year, I'm sure Brooklyn prefers that. Having Evans makes it easier to keep KG's minutes down.
