Default Kevin Love: That's what really hurt.

Quote:
For everyone else still stunned over the Minnesota Timberwolves' owner and general manager downright daring the franchise's best player to leave for free agency in two years, Kevin Love promises to be a professional, promises All-Star performance and productivity. Over the organization's refusal to designate him as the cornerstone, though, there come no promises of forgiveness from Love. No assurance it won't chase him out the door and out of the franchise forever someday. "I don't know who labels people stars, but even [T'wolves owner] Glen Taylor said: I don't think Kevin Love is a star, because he hasn't led us to the playoffs," Love told Yahoo! Sports. "I mean, it's not like I had much support out there. That's a tough pill to swallow."

Perhaps those issues wouldn't still be so raw had the franchise responded differently when Love broke his hand in a preseason workout. In a regimen he's done most of his life, Love fractured a bone thrusting himself to his feet upon completion of a round of knuckle pushups. He missed a month on the floor, but his ears missed nothing from those in management whispering that maybe the injury didn't happen the way Love insisted it did. "Even people in my own organization were asking if it was a legitimate injury, people calling my honesty and integrity into question," Love says. "And that's what really hurt me." Yahoo! Sports

With all of the Derrick Williams and Pekovic trade talk, any chance they flip it upside down and trade Kevin Love before his ego gets out of wack? He doesn't sound like he's going to be inclined to re-sign there again.

I don't blame him if this is true.

Why would they want Davis? They'd keep Williams if they did that.

Thats an amazing trade, I'd do it instantly. Love/JV front court would be fun to watch.

as you read on, it just feels like his ego is getting a little out of hand.... or that he's just very jaded.....

I don't see some massive ego there at all. He's feeling unsupported, should be interesting to see how it plays out. When is his contract up?

and rightly so. Minnesota is a foolish organization. the last player they had of love's caliber (arguably better) was garnett, and he left because they weren't winning. Now they aren't winning, with someone of similar caliber on their team, and they're blaming their go to guy? yeah, cause that's smart and you'll be a better off team without love....

two years.....

he was talking about not forgetting who has wronged him, and about not having much help around him.... where is the team philosophy? Where is the acceptance that he hasn't carried them anywhere yet?

Maybe I'm reading too far into it, but it's not the first time I've thought that.

Lakers fans are all jumping at Gasol for Love.

IMO, Bargs + Calderon + Ross + 2nd Rounder for Love + Ridnour + Cunningham (for salaries to match) seems like a better deal.

They get someone to mentor Rubio (both spanish national team pg's), a good offensive PF who can strech the floor like Love, and a talented prospect at the SG spot (their weakest position). Plus Gasol is having his worst season as a Laker and coming off an injury.

Lol that's a downright horrible trade for Minny. Even switch Ross for DeRozan and they still would probably turn it down.

Love is easily a star in this league. If you put up those numbers and get selected for the USA team, you're a star. He's arguably the best PF in the league.

I initially had Demar, Calderon, Bargs in the deal but that's 30Mil in salary. Not sure the salaries matchup and neither team can take on salary.

With Love and Rubio you have/had something. You were building towards with the playoffs with a young group of guys and importantly he had/has support.

I don't see the ego carp. I read that, and I see a guy who's just pissed at where he works and he should be. Ever since they drafted him, they've never really committed to him (beyond this contract) fully. Hell, there were rumors they were going to dump him and he wasn't really getting much pt before he blew up and became a double double machine. If I was in his boots, I'd bolt and I wouldn't even think twice.

I can appreciate your perspective... just don't like the grudge like approach... maybe just don't say it.
