JVG regrets leaving the Knicks but will Hollins get a shot?

James Dolan is beginning to lose confidence in Mike Woodson as head coach of the New York Knicks, according to sources.

The Knicks have lost nine straight games.

Jeff Van Gundy would be considered as a possible replacement for Woodson. It is unlikely that Van Gundy would take over any job during the middle of the season.

Van Gundy and Dolan were not on speaking terms for several years following his sudden resignation during the 01-02 season, but the two have been cordial when crossing paths last season.

Steve Mills worked with Gundy for two seasons.

Van Gundy would want input on personnel decisions in his next job, according to a source.

Van Gundy is believed to have interest in returning to the Knicks.

“It’s something I regret to this day,’’ Van Gundy said of his resignation. “I live with it every day and I regret it. And I let my emotions come into it. And I was just emotionally spent. I made a bad decision and I quit….I had a great job with the Knicks.’’

I've never been a Woodson fan...the Knicks have all the offence they need they just need some serious help with their defence and who better?

Yeah I posted this earlier. I wonder if it's only the Knicks that would intrigue him.

I would think so, he's had a lot of opportunity elsewhere.

Marc Berman of the New York Post speculates that a "blowout loss" to the Nets on Thursday "could trigger changes -- whether via trade or a coaching move."
The Knicks are riding a nine-game losing streak and they've dropped seven straight at home, and Berman opines that a loss to rival Brooklyn may push owners James Dolan to the breaking point. Jeff Van Gundy and Lionel Hollins are mentioned as possible replacement coaches if Woodson is indeed fired mid-season, but we'll reiterate that this is pure rumor and speculation.

Hollins would be a great coach......maybe he could teach AB how to play some defence.

I agree though he's been offered rebuilds before and swiftly declined. Don't think JVG wants to be in that situation.

I like the idea of Hollins though, he would have a tremendous impact on JV and I also liked how he implemented the inside out game in Memphis. The Raptors should be doing the same thing as Lkeet6 has pointed out many times.
