i didnt realize current NBA coaches could get in.
Jerry Sloan was inducted, but he's currently coaching. how come? is it his previous playing career that did it?

Jordan should be inducted by himself
he should have a wing dedicated to him in the Hall
The Admiral and Stockton were great players, well deserved

Sloan was a defensive wizard in his playing days and was an all-star if I'm not mistaken.

no way a special case should be made for jordan. he was great, perhaps the greatest of all time, but in the end he was just a player like all the others. being elected to the hall is special enough, we don't need a jordan-specific celebration.

also, given the he was suspended under the table for two years for gambling stern would never allow it...

He's not in there as a player, but it's not uncommon for active coaches to be enshrined.

i'm against that.

the coach should be retired for 5 years or dead.
what if Sloan goes on a murderous rampage a kills the entire Jazz team?
or if he is accused of molesting his players?
would he still be considered a HOF'er?
i dont think so!

a coach's career should be over before he gets nominated.
its like that for players, why not coaches.

molesting his players... LOL

Here's your answer.

Quote:
Coach: A coach must be either fully retired for five years or, if still an active coach, have coached as either a fulltime assistant or head coach on the high school and/or college and/or professional level for a minimum of 25 years. That person will then be considered for Enshrinement in the sixth year of retirement or 26th year of active coaching.

Gretzky had his 5 years waiting period waived. Thats how they honored him. A similar gesture would have been appropriate. It would have also brought more business to the HOF.

Lemieux had his 5-year period waived too. The guy was in the HOF and came back and played.
