Default John Wall believes he deserves the max

Maybe if his last name was Irving - who should be the bar for coming max salaries for pg's.....Wall's not on his level imo...

Quote:
John Wall has not lived up to the hype that came along with the expectations he was placed under after being the No. 1 pick in the 2010 Draft, but he will be eligible for a contract extension this offseason as he enters the final year of his rookie deal.

And in Wall's eyes, he is a max player and worth that contract from the Washington Wizards.

"I feel like I am. I do, definitely," Wall said.

Still, Wall has not started thinking about a possible extension.

"Look, I’m just enjoying D.C," Wall said. "This hasn’t been going the way we wanted it to, in terms of winning, but I think we are building something here."

start with a high price. it's a smart move by him really, washington want to keep him. it's not really the most attractive place. he would stay in washington for the max or close to it, or go to a better team, in a better city, for slightly less. he's holding them at ransom, well, because he can. the CBA didn't do much to fix player power on negotiations and wall is using it to his advantage

No way his team can afford a max contract. It's gonna take them 3 more years to pay off that Gilbert Arenas contract.

he's fallen off hard this year.
from injuries to maturity, his stock has dropped. he isnt considered a leader, and for a star PG, leadership is crucial.
also, with what Kyrie is doing in cleveland, its making him look bad.

his stats have taken a big hit, and its as if he isnt improving. he turns the ball over way too much.

Dude has butter fingers.

Kyrie, now that kid reminds of when CP and Rose came in the league...in terms of meeting their respective hype (and exceeding it). Wall...not so much.

Whats a former #1 overall pick gonna say? "Oh, I'm not worth the max... I'll accept whatever is given to me"... that just shows hes given up

No it doesn't. It shows maturity and an ability to hold yourself accountable. Hell, might be the ONLY reason i consider giving him the max if im that GM.

And who gives a fuck where he was picked?

John Wall is not, and has not ever played like an lite PG in this league....why the hell should he be telling the world he "deserves" to be paid like one.

get that gahbage outta heeeeee

John Wall is a punk, dude does not deserve max. Washington is a god damn mess of a team, I thought they'd be decent with Nene and what not but they have been nothing more than a big disappointment.

the better answer would be 'ask my agent about the money stuff, i just care about becoming the best player i can be and helping my team win right now'

well because they've been injured even more than the Wolves. Their minutes leader is Martell Webster, sigh.

its frustrating watching wall play because he still tries to run the offense like high school prep team ball. depressing really.

however he's an active defender and reebok's lone shoe model, so that's automatically a max contract.

How exactly do you expect him to go to a team for less? He is a restricted free agent, so the Wiz can match any offer he gets from another team. To leave Washington, he'd have to refuse any extension they offer and play out his qualifying year without a guaranteed longterm contract. That is really risky for a guy like Wall who just came back from a serious injury. Washington does not have all the leverage, but neither does Wall. He is going to have to assume some serious risk if he wants out, and lose money during that qualifying year.
