LOL.... I think that a few people owe Mr. Anthony an apology.

I've really enjoyed his game. Him and Bosh work really nice together.

Yep. THAT is EXACTLY the type of big man that we needed to pair Bosh with when he was here....

... instead we got "the anti-Anthony"... all flash... no substance. And about 10 x more expensive.

Torap jumped the gun when he started this thread. Now - don't think so. The dude can play. He's done it all year long. I'm not sure what you're looking at, or looking for, but he's simply not a scrub - he's got real value.

Seems like the majority think that if you don't score 20 a game and get non-stop double doubles, you're a scrub!

this is context. if joel anthony, at the level he's playing right now, were the raps starting centre in 2006 instead of rasho, he'd be vilified as a scrub. dude serves a purpose and he serves it well, but his success in the Heat's system is largely a byproduct of Wade and LeBron's brilliance on the perimeter.

Totally agree the guy feels a role, and he works hard and stays aware. But those other guys on that team contribute greatly to his success. It will be interesting to see how they use him in the Boston series. I have a feeling he will be picking up KG, unless Shaq is back. It funny that JO isn't getting any love filling almost the exact same role in Boston, maybe even exceeding expectations and Joel.

C'mon man.

If we had Anthony last year with Bosh what would that have accomplished in all honesty?

We were never built like the Heat. The Heat have 3 guys who can score. We had 1.5 guys who could really score.

You still need to put the ball in the basket at the end of the day and have defensive players. Playing him with Bosh last year would've solved nothing save for the fact that I'd probably dislike Anthony more than I do.

Also, when you have two outstanding perimeter defenders, your job as a post defender becomes THAT much more easier. Just sayin'....

I don't understand the comparison as Curry was an ol man who had no gas left in the tank when he was a Raptor. He tried to be solid out on the court and use his experience to make solid decisions. For the most part he was busy being a half coach.

Joel Anthony is an athlete and his game depends on his athleticism to make clutch defensive plays and grab offensive boards.

the comparison is simple:
both have/had zero offensive game, but were on the court for their defensive skills, and were role players that were one-dimensional.
bottom line is that they have/had one thing going for them... although curry had experience.

if curry was 30 and on the heat, you'd probably be on his nuts too.... on any other team Anthony would be parked on the bench.

It's a good thing that LX is around here to keep me sane lol... nothing against you personally C, but if you can't see what Anthony brings to the floor then I honestly don't know what to say.

No, he alone wouldn't have turned us into a 60-win team... that much is obvious. What he WOULD have done is provided us with a big man who could rebound the ball and protect the rim the way that an actual CENTER is supposed to!

He's also quick enough and smart enough to D up opposing 4s and 5s 1-on-1 without help which is INVALUABLE.

He was also among the top 20 shotblockers in the league in spite of the fact that he only played about half (20 min or so/gm) the game.

The Raps have rarely had problems with offense... they ALWAYS had problems with defense (and rebounding). Anthony would have helped in both of those areas.

Lol... if you say so.

This is what I love about the internet.... people are SO quick to jump on you and scream "WTF are you talking about??? That's stupid!!" and then when evidence to your claim emerges those same naysayers are either no where to be found or full of a new set of excuses.
