Is TP playing for France? I know Diaw, Petrus, dude from the Blazers and Beaubois are French

Batum, Parker, Pietrus, Noah, Beaubois, Diaw and Turiaf.

Not a bad collection of talent at all.

I heard Tony may not play because of all that talked about lock out insurance thing... He usually sucks in FIBA anyway.

Eurobasket before Olympics is always fun. Everyone wants Olympic ticket, and usually brings a lot of talent.

This is Eurobasket 2011 main page EuroBasket 2011

Lithuania in group A, hands down strongest group, it's just obvious.

Now lets talk about possible Jonas' matchups, it's gonna be very very fun. Just hope Jonas gets some burn, and if he gets, man... all Raptors fans should watch it.

Spain : Pau, Marc, Reys, Ibaka
Turkey : Asik and probably biggest JV rival, Enes Kanter.
Poland : Gortat

Lithuania probably will play in round 2 (3 teams from each group go to the next round), and there will play against 3 best teams from group B. Most likely it will be :

Italy - Bargnani (no joke, 3 more rebounds and hes Dirk)
Serbia - Krstic
France - Noah, Turiaf, Traore (Ajinca and Mahinmi are not invited)

Nites 07-12-2011 07:47 AM

If he can take on the Gasol brothers with some Ibaka, I'm sold.

js12 07-12-2011 08:37 AM

That's some great competition. It will be a great test. You have some offensive threats with the Gasol brothers and you have competitors in Asik, Gortat and Ibaka.

Mickael Gelabale will arguably be their second best player and should probably play more minutes than Batum or Pietrus. His game is better suited for Europe. In the Worlds last year Diaw and his out-of-shape game was a cancer to that team.

The problem with the French team is that although they are athletic they usually end up losing because they fail to make jumpshots. Iso favors the NBA game and in Europe when teams go zone France tends to get in trouble.

A major fallacy in evaluating teams in international competition is to assume that a great "roster" will be the best team. I think it has been proven in the last decade that a team full of "stars" frequently underperforms. This game has a lot more to do with chemistry and things such as ball movement.

It will be interesting to see Noah grab rebounds with Fiba rules. Don't underestimate European centers though. Guys like Javtokas are very physical.

MARTYNAS 07-12-2011 09:41 AM

True about Diaw, but he play different position. While batum is way better than Gelabale, on O and on D. and he translated his game in FIBA very well. Last World cup was like renaissance to Gelabale, but Batum was still better. Batum 12.5 pts. 3.2 reb. 2.2 asi. better defense and clutch plays. Gelabale was more like a dark horse, 11ppg. 4.reb.

France roster looks good to NBA fans, but it's also their weakness. NBA players are not necessary better than Euro ones, and they usually FAIL in FIBA.

Ibaka is from Congo. He was reppin' Congo at slam dunk contest!

Big Cat 07-12-2011 06:04 PM

Spain will give Ibaka the spanish passport - problem solved :cookie:
