Lakers Jerry Buss passed away.

RIP.

Quote:
Lakers owner Jerry Buss has passed away at the age of 79 according to Ken Berger of CBSSports.com who confirms a report from the L.A. Times. Various Los Angeles media reported late last week that the longtime Lakers icon had been hospitalized with a form of cancer.

The 2010 Naismith Basketball Hall-of-Fame inductee purchased the Lakers from Jack Kent Cooke, and saw the team through its most successful era, including ten NBA championships. His daughter Jeanie Buss has taken over running the business side of the team in recent seasons, while his son Jim has managed the basketball side.

Sad.

He was pretty legendary in the world of poker too. TONS of super-high stakes cash games played at his house with all the top players (and Hollywood stars).

From what I've seen of the Poker Tournaments he hosted and played in, yes he actually was extremely nice. But thats about the extent of what I know.

From what I've heard he was very well-respected and liked.

His son on the other hand.... not so much.

I am sad that a great man has passed away RIP

But happy cause it gives the rest of the league just a little bit more of a chance to win some championships now.

Obviously since I didn't know him. Can't really say if he was of nice orbit. But he seemed it. And has an excellent rags to riches story. He's a self made billionaire, that put himself through school & all. Which is all pretty great.
