Celtics Jeff Green wants 4yrs/40mil

On the Celtics front, agent David Falk continues to say he thinks a deal gets done with Boston for free agent forward Jeff Green. One source with knowledge of the talks says it may be in the four years, $40 million neighborhood, but it is not done.
"I’m confident it’ll get done," Falk told SI.com. "I guess they got (Brandon) Bass' (contract) done, which is great. Jeff is trying to get a sense of what the team looks like first before he makes a commitment, but I expect he’ll be there and I expect it’ll be done by the 11th (when the free agency moratorium ends). We’ve gotten a lot of interest from other teams. But as far as Boston, we’re very confident we’ll get it done.

He's one of the better tweener 3/4's in the league, but I wouldnt give him a cent over 7 million a year. He's a 6th/7th man who doesnt do anything great but does most things average to slightly above average. He's most effective on offence vs 4's and on defence vs 3's. He doesnt make a 10 million dollar a year impact on the court though. When his shot is off he disappears a lot.

I think they'll get enough from Sullinger, that they won't need JG

Add Toby's post to a thrillers plus the fact he just came off heart surgery missing all of last season and your looking at a player that should not be 10mil per, even 7 is pushing IMO - though that reads like what Thriller is saying - just agree.

Yeah... I was thinking $8M/yr tops. That's a heck of a commitment that he's asking for when he's still kind of an unknown commodity in Celtic uniform.

As much as I like him I'd honestly let him walk if I were Ainge. Maybe even a sign & trade with DAL for Marion or something like that.

Well, they offered the Non-Tax Payer Mid-level exception to Jason Terry. To my knowledge, in order to keep that deal in place the Celts need to make sure that they don't go more than $4 above the tax after Terry's deal is included in their payroll. They don't want to exceed the "apron". That is, they need to be $1 mill below the tax line when you add up all Celts salaries other than Terry.

I don't think they'd risk jeopardizing the deal with Terry. So I think they'll make sure the combined total of the other salaries keeps them below the tax line. Celts will be no more than $3.9 mill above the tax after everyone is signed, and it's still dollar for dollar in 2012-2013.

Way way way too much. 6 million tops. What has Jeff green accomplished? What's on his resume that he can demand such a salary? If I'm Boston, I'm not even blinking at this one... Green has To be bluffing to see if he can get that kind of coin, there's no way he can really be serious - especially after having surgery.

well.. he will be 26 in August, and had solid season in okc before the Boston injury, so anywhere he goes I think he would get offered the same amount of money
