Careful... your Laker gold is showing.

It's funny because I actually respect Pierce/Allen and to some extent KG (used to like him better on Minni). I'm not hating, Rondo is just really overrated, period.

Odom is overrated too, and the Lakers won with him. Doesn't change anything. Being overrated doesn't mean you're not a good player. It just means your overrated. People try to say he's a top 20 player in the game. Come on.

Odom's a very good player. I don't think he's overrated at all... unless people are talking about him being a franchise player or winning MVPs or something.

Similarly for Rondo... how is he "overrated"? Guy was the starting PG on a team that won a title. He has a ring. He's an all-star. He's probably the best defensive PG in the game and has a gift for passing. Tough as nails too. Is he a franchise guard like Rose or Paul? Perhaps not but I know that I'd take him over pretty much everyone else at that spot (over Deron, over Westbrook).

Sometimes it's a matter of perspective too. A lot of people thought that Marion was overrated when he was on PHX... until he went to DAL and played a huge part in them getting a ring.

i think ur point actually makes it sound like he is overrated.
on one hand ur saying he won a title, all star, best defensive PG, gift of passing, tough as nails. but then you admit he's not a franchise guard.

Would you dispute any of the things that I said there?

1. Is there a better defender than him at the PG spot right now?

2. Is he not a great passer and floor general?

3. Does he not have a ring?

4. Has he not proven that he can play through pain?

To clarify, I would have no problem starting a franchise with him as my PG. None at all. But I realize that people only view "scoring guards" as franchise players for the most part so I didn't bother because I really don't need another argument about that right now lol.

being overrated is getting more praise than you really deserve. so by you listing all those positives about rondo (not disputing those positives now, thats not the point) and then saying he's not a franchise type. thats basically saying he's overrated.

what if i said, there's a point guard thats won a championship, is an allstar, great passer, one of the best defenders in his position and is one of the toughest as well. and i didn't tell you who, i just gave you all these qualities and then ask is he a franchise pg? you would say yes right?
but then if i ask is rondo a franchise pg? some yes, some no. but no denying the fact that the number of yes would decrease.
and that's why he's overated

You just confused the crap out of me lol....

I'll make it simple then. The only thing that Rondo's lacking right now is a consistent long jumper (and FT shooting I guess).

If he can develop those 2 parts of his game he'll be a franchise guy without question.

I don't think that Rondo gets more credit than he deserves though... on the contrary, I think that he actually get LESS due to the fact that he plays with the big 3.

Suffice to say I'd take him on my team 10/10 times... overrated or no.

rondo is awesome, great PG.

I would SO have him over westbrook right now! I enjoy watching westbrook and i think he can become very good but right now he is so inefficient and sometimes just gets lost out there.

I don't really like the term "franchise player." It seems to have other contexts to it like; he'll sell jerseys, get the most all-star votes, win the dunk contest, do television appearances, get the biggest endorsements. Rose's MVP win was so predictable last year. People jumped straight on it early in the season and you just knew he would win it. Him and griifin were the media darlings last year.

i prefer to take it your way. Fantasy draft, you're starting from scratch, who do you pick as your PG? rondo would be right near the top of my list.

People said the same thing about Avery Johnson when he started on the Spurs' first championship team.

They were wrong then too.

Adam Morrison had little to do with the Lakers winning their championship.

Rondo started and played 30+ minutes a game.
